| Quote Nell Mangles Toyboy="Nell Mangles Toyboy"I am a new fan because of the museum - impressed!
JMe and my family came to the game on Sunday for our first ever game of rugby league - the kids absolutely loved it (as did i) and they even refused to leave until the players had come round so they could get some autographs! I thought it was brilliant just before kick off when that guy was getting all the applause (sorry, don't know who he was - i will have to learn all the names) and the opera singers and everything. The players were really friendly at the end too - don't get that at football.
We were invited to try a reds game while visiting the Museum of Museums at the Trafford Centre during the school holidays. we were blown away by the reds exhibit!
the guy at the museum took the time out to chat to us for ages and my lads loved racing about on the indoor pitch and learning about a sport they don't play at their school . When he said we could sign up to sample a free game as we hadn't been before I must admit I thought it was a bit of a con to get my details, but sure enough about three or four days later we got cards through the post for all three of us and a leaflet that said where the ground was and where to park and stuff which i thought was a nice touch. Phoned up and asked if my wife could come as well (didn;t sign her up on the day) and the guy on the phone signed her up there and then and we got her card the next day! Great service!
And then this morning I got an email with a survey about whether we enjoyed ourselves or not with a draw to win a Wii!
Gutted there are no more games until next year now loll. my lads have asked me to get them a rugby ball. salford seems like a great friendly club and it was nice to see a win for our first game! I wont post too much as I don't want to embarrass myself with my lack of knowledge but i look forward to reading and learning during the close season. Is there an official forum? I googled it but this was the only one I could find'"
What a cracking post! Sir, you're very welcome in the RL family. (Especially in the Salford branch of course)
As for official forums, well, I believe there is an official Reds forum but this is the real deal. Stick with the Turkey mate.
I wouldn't worry about embarrassing yourself with a lack of knowledge. Most contributors on this forum haven't got a clue and yet they get by! (Sorry peeps, only kidding )
Hey, if you need any pointers or advice on the game, you need only ask. It won't take you long to get up to speed.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum!
i only asked about the official forum because i wanted to post on there to say thanks to the staff who dealt with me at the museum and when i phoned up but hopefullt they will read my post on here anyway.
Thinking about taking the boys to the Grand Final now, is that usually any good? Shame the reds aren't in it lol

Yeah, I'm pretty sure your post will be noticed by the club. They regularly check out the Turkey as we know what the club's done or doing before they do.
Can't comment on the GF as I've never been myself. (I'm waiting for Salford to get there which up until recently was a statement met with ridicule. Following recent events, it may well be somewhat sooner than anticapated me thinks!) From what I'm told by countless Grand Finalites, it's an amazing experience and not to be missed! I hear it's one of if not thee best atmosphere in sport. How does that sound?

As said before, Welcolme to the Turkey, i have been to the grand final a couple of times and thought it was ok, but the Challenge cup final is where you need to go. Its awesome.

But to be fair mate, you're a seasoned pro and full time RL addict. Imagine how big the GF with all its razmataz would be for a part time supporter, let alone a newby. It'd blow your mind!

Sorry Gav, got to disagree with you on the GF as opposed to the Challenge Cup, in complete agreement with CCNo1 the CC is an awesome day & even if your team isnt in the game the overall experience of the day is supreme, the emotion when the CC is presented at the end of the game is overwhelming, I organise the trip every year hopeing it will be to see my Salford, but, I can dream, but who knows, next year dreams might come true .
Anyway, a big welcome to Nell Mangles Toyboy & family, you have now enrolled in the Greatest Game played & the Salford Reds family, we are all waiting in anticipation for pre season training starting already!!!!
As you posted, mingling with the players & chatting to them is what puts us above football & makes a family atmosphere.
If you are interested, there is a "football match" on Thursday night K.O. 6-30pm in aid of Stu Littler's testimonial, its the soapstars footie team V Stu's select at the Willows, should be a bit of fun.

=#FF0000Shirl, you're not actually in disagreement with me. I was pointing out that the GF would be an amazing experience, probably way beyond comprehension for somebody new or fairly new to the game. Sure, the CC is something else altogether but as to whether a new fan of the game should seek to buy tickets for the GF next month; hell yeah!

Never been so happy to read a post. Made my day that you had such a great time... and love the fact that the kids loved it. That is so important as my two were born into it and probably didn't get much choice than to watch it. It's great that you can all learn the game together.
Hope you enjoy many happy visits to watch the Reds... It's a great thing to be a part of.

| Thanks for the welcome everyone! Tickets for the Grand Final are now booked for me and the kids - the wife is not quite ready to give up the X Factor on Saturday night for rugby yet it seems, but I'll keep working on her!
Going to try and get down to the willows on Saturday to get shirts for the boys and will pick up a ball while I'm there.
Was reading the Reds website today about all the signings recently - definitely sounds like we are getting onbaord at the right time! Does that make me a gloryhunter??

| Yeah welcome to the roller-coaster that is Salford RLFC. It's great to read your views and I, like everyone else, am delighted that you and yours enjoyed the experience.
If I may be so bold, what part of of the North West do you live?
