I only ever played on a Saturday afternoon at open age level but played a few Sunday games with our U17's side. I even played a few times on both Saturday and Sunday, I was black and blue by Monday morning!

2013 was a great year for Langworthy Reds. The club was voted nationally through loverugbyleague.com as “Club Idol” which was a competition run for community clubs to showcase their efforts to improve the facilities they have in by involving its member and to work together as a community club. Then the general public were able to cast their vote on who they felt were most deserving for the work done. “The Reds romped home with the competition” (The RFL words not ours) after we renovated the upstairs of the club on a budget of just £1000. A builder estimated had we got builders and other tradesmen in it would of cost us 10 times that amount. All entrants can be seen herehttps://loverugbyleague.com/club-idol/rl
2014 is already shaping up to be an even better year. The club has added two new junior teams and now have teams at U7s, U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s, U12s, U14s, U15s and U18s as well as our cub section for children from 3 years old to 6 years old to come along and join in. On top of that our Open Age team have joined the North West summer leagues and we currently have over 20 women training with a view to joining the national ladies leagues during the year.
Off the pitch we are planning our next project to continue the renovation of our Oakwood Park base with a view to retaining our club idol crown.
As always we are more than welcoming to anyone who wants to get involved with rugby even if not to play but to continue to help take the club forward off the pitch. If anyone is interested in playing then we have a team for pretty much anyone who wants to come along and try their hand at the game. You don’t need to have any experience so don’t let that put you off.
If you do want more information you can contact us through our website rlwww.langworthyreds.co.ukrl or visit our twitter account rl@langworthyredsrl, our Facebook page rlfacebook.com/LangworthyRedsArlfcrl. You can email us on langworthyredsrlfc@gmail.com or even call or text our secretary Mark on 07554 007616.

| Given Salford play Thursday there is still a way of getting a rugby-fix this week as the amateur leagues kick-off!
Saturday March 1:
NCL 1: Eccles v Ince Rose Bridge
NWC PREMIER: Folly Lane v Haydock
NWC DIV 1: Wigan Spring View v Irlam
NWC DIV 3: Fitton Hill (Oldham) v Langworthy
NWC DIV 3: Bury Broncos v Bolton Mets (great game first up for us!)
NWC DIV 3: Wigan Bulldogs v Little Hulton
NWC DIV 4: Cadishead v Rylands A
NWC DIV 4: East Manchester v Mancunians (yes, a Manchester derby!)

| I think you'll find that your NWCs are NWMLs. NWC run a winter competition, currently comprising 16 clubs, 12 of which are in Greater Manchester. So the fix was always there!
The North West Mens League comprises 79 clubs and plays in the summer season, alongside the pro game.

| The posts at The Rec have been taken down after a safety check so the The Rhinos game v Rylands may not take place at Lord St.

| To avoid any argument of bias from LGBT rugby fans, haven't you missed off Manchester Canalsiders?
If you want to go to the Manchester derby, East Manchester play at Belle View Leisure Centre.
As for Stockport: have the Stockport schools' RL teams stopped playing? You may get support from there. I remember periodic involvement in Oldham Schools RL in the 80's and 90's.

Canalsiders do not play in the formal league - they play in the Entry League which is a Merit Comp where clubs bi-laterally arrange their own fixtures with other clubs. Hence, they don't appear in the league fixture lists. When the season is up and running and lists of Merit Games go on the web-sites they can be added...there will be Bury A fixtures too (we fielded two sides at weekend and thats before the RU season has ended so we'll be hoping to have 2 teams out on a regular basis this year), and probably Eccles A and Folly Lane A.

You're right, should say NWML but not sure what you mean about 'the fix'.

| So how did our local sides go on this week ?
I know East Manchester survived a late come back from the Mancunians to win 30-28 and Cadishead lost away to Ryland A anyone got any more results?

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try

Folly won their first match in the premier league 44-16. Outstanding performance after some poor pre season results.

| Saturday March 1:
NCL 1: Eccles v Ince Rose Bridge - Eccles WON 30 - 6
NWML PREMIER: Folly Lane v Haydock - Folly WON 42 -16 (so go straight to top of league and an improvement on pre-season results)
NWML DIV 1: Wigan Spring View v Irlam - Irlam LOST 24 - 16
NWML DIV 3: Fitton Hill (Oldham) v Langworthy - Worthy WON 10 - 28
NWML DIV 3: Bury Broncos v Bolton Mets (great game first up for us!) - Bury WON 22 - 14
NWML DIV 3: Wigan Bulldogs v Little Hulton - Little Hulton WON 12 - 32
NWML DIV 4: Cadishead v Rylands A - Cadishead LOST 14 - 32 (worth knowing that Rylands first team had no game yesterday)
NWML DIV 4: East Manchester v Mancunians (yes, a Manchester derby!) East Manchester won 30 - 28
And another:
Bury A beat Bolton A 64 - 16.
Bury's first team were flat yesterday (perhaps a come down from beating Folly last week!) and only scored a try to settle it in the last minute - Bolton massively better than in previous years. What was brilliant was getting the call from Bolton to say their numbers are up and they could bring an A side to make it a double header. We had 26 available for that game too!

The Rhinos played Rylands at home thanks to the new sticks being put up on Friday, entertaining and competitive game despite the result
As for Salford`s involvement with grass roots Rugby League .loads of work to be done, Devil In The Detail Episode 5 has an interview with Alan Hunte which outlines where the club are up to at the minute.
