I think Talau should be pushed into the back row to give you abit more power in the forwards?

We were better than the score showed. 2 tries in first 5 mins down the same flank (left centre/wing) then we played some sparkling RL culminating in an excellent try by Matty after some quality work from Reg Houldsworth.

They were bigger and conditions suited them but on a drier ground we would have been much closer.

We have signed some quality in Reg & young Broughton who is electrifying off the mark. Gibson & Tyrer will only improve.

Not downhearted at all with a lot of positives seen today. We were short of possession and struggled for field position but still played a much more open brand of RL than last season.

On a drier pitch it would have been a bigger margin for Rovers id say mate.
Your forwards got out muscled by a prop quartet of 2 players in their early 20's, a teenager and Vella easing his way back from injury.

Not sure I would say that - Silverwood helped you out massively with your field position. Once we got the shock of that horror start out of the way I think we settled down quite well. You had a massive slice of luck with that Dobson try as well - but hey ho at least you were savvy enough to take advantage.

I was very encouraged with our performance and with our first choice centre pairing to come back I am feeling quite positive about the season. Holdsworth showed enough touches to suggest that he may become the kind of creative loose forward we have been craving for years!!

We need to put in a solid display against Celtic to distance ourselves from the `also-ran' tag we seem to share with them and give ourselves a chance to push on - I think our home form is going to be vital......understatement of the year I know!!

On the subject of Silverwood, one of his best games i thought.
Totally agree about the Dobson try, very lucky indeed but well finished.
Your 2 wingers defensively need to improve and Talau and Henry being back in the side will help that.
Im a big Ratchford fan, you need to keep him.

Having watched the Sky sports coverage, Fox appeared to be in front of the passer for each try when he received the ball ie a forward pass, so two reffing errors in the first 7 mins.
Overall I thought both teams were poor and apparently that was Cookes best game for HKR on the local radio phone in with just one caller.
The pitch itself was in pretty poor condition for the first match, whether this is due to the sandy soil or the moist salt seaair.
