| A few initial thoughts after just getting in.
Training exercise pretty much for Wigan. We were awful in the 1st half and for the 2nd week running fell apart as soon as they spread the ball wide - sliding defence was non-existant.
2nd half was better but that was probably due to Wigan taking their foot off the gas. Kicking game was garbage overall though.
Good to see Smith coming back into the side - thought he looked good coming off the bench and his ball distribution from dummy half is so much better than Malc's.
No idea where they got 11,500 for the attendance from. Considering we probably took over 1,000 less than we did last week, they certainly didn't look to have 2,000+ more than last week in the stands...

I thought there was more than last week.
Either way, I believe they automatically count all season ticket holders as part of the attendance regardless if they turn up.

No idea either. I was told 8,827 which is probably fairer. Might be that they count all the season tickets even if they don't turn up.

| Agree about Smith. Alker again woeful at acting HB. Its a young mans position with speed of thought and speed of pass. Come on SMc you must make changes.

Alker did make me chuckle when he started to do the old 'round belly hand actions' at Mark Riddell during the 2nd half though
He's been a great player Alker and has been a great servant for Salford but when i've seen him this year he doesn't look half as threatning as in seasons gone by.

| Enough about the crowd size.... completely irrelevant. Did you know there was a rugby match on ?
Anyway... onto the game.
Firstly... did the players watch a video of last weeks game during the week ? If they did, they didn't take any of it on board. So many times we were caught out again. Wigan consistently dropped an extra man into the attacking line out wide and we didn't know how to handle it until the game was beyond us. Once should be enough... but they did it 4 or 5 times last week and the about the same number of times last night. Still struggled to handle Hock when he went wide.... and don't even get me started on how good we seem to make Pat Richards look.
Once the game was lost at 22-0.... we won the rest of the game 18-12... not much consolation, but something to build on. It was like going backwards to the start of the season when games were lost before we started.
I'd prefer not to concentrate on individuals... because we lost the game as a team last night.

The crowd in the home end was about the same as last week, maybe a couple of hundred more. There must have been a few missing season ticket holders, that's all I could think of.
Anyway, the game. Didn't end up being as bad as I expected, thought we'd have 60 on us by the end. We played alright second half, but, once again, looked lost going forward. I think a lot of credit should go to Wigan, though. They are a good side and we'd struggle to beat them no matter how well we play. It's just one of those things.

| Credit to Wigan - a couple of their tries were top drawer - certainly most of the Solly fans where I was sat applauded them!! Going forward they were so much more creative than we were - we didn't seem able to lay a hand on Thomas Leululai at all - he was their MOM for me.
But if I were a Wigan fan (perish the thought!!) I'd be a a bit worried about the defence - when we did get into their half they looked not a lot better than us -
All in all we were beaten by a better attacking side - I'm not too downhearted about it though - this season has to be one of steady improvement and being able to compete with anyone at SL level and I think we're getting there - but slowly.

All fair comments.
We're a strange team! When we get our attack going we can't seem to defend and when our defence is good(like at Wire the other week) we can't seem to get the attack going.
If we ever manage to put both parts of the game together we'll be a half decent side.
As for Salford i think the seasons gone great s far especially after the start and with a couple of good additions next year a place in the top 8 will be within reach.

| I cant believe people are saying Alkers passed it. His play before setting up Swain was world class and I cant think of a better defensive hooker in SL
