Fella if it turns out that I've got Solly tinted specs on I'll be one of the first to hold my hand up and admit I was wrong.
However I feel that this would be an opportunistic time for Malc to move on and learn his trade else where.

| I read a few weeks ago that alker was coaching attack...and vievers defence..
I found this odd considering Malc wasnt a great attacker in his time at the club and thought he'd be much better coaching defence and tackling techniques.
Anyway, my point, Brian Carney said on super league show tonight that 'salfords attack had a much better shape than in recent weeks'. Does that mean ALker maybe wasnt effective in hhis duties?
I like MAlc, but I cant see how he can come back to the club after all this. TO me, if he loved our club, he'd leave so the 'cclub can draw a line under it and move on. Can you imagine how disrucptive it would be if he returned after submitting a formal grievance?

| Alker has to go.
That's the strong feeling on this forum.
Whatever his legal position regarding a grievance, you just don't do that in professional sport and carry on with the same club.
Not really interested in who is right or wrong.
The Club always comes first. He was only number 3 in the coaching set up so it is in Clubs best interest that he moves on.

You make some good points mate - why would alker be coaching attack? We looked alot quicker sharper and looked to off load frequently against the bulls alot different to the five drives and a poor kick we were treated to against crusaders. Veivers should take control to the end of the season - the players seem to want to play for him so give him a go...

| Isnt alker just standing up for what the fans want? one minute he is the best ever hooker at the club and the next season he is a total shambles! malc has done next to nothing wrong in his prolonged years at Salford, just stay and trot up and down from devisions when he could have easily have left for st george! I dont understand why the fans are so anti alker! MACRAE AND SIMMS mess it all up simms for a decade! Alker clearly didnt wnt macrae back in the club and niether did 90% of all salford fans simms made the choice to bring the MACRAE in after a few bad results from harrison and we still went down! he hasnt progressed the club atall in 5 years and has been sacked from every job he has been in! Simms is salfords number one hate but its like most fans are resigned to the fact tht MR SALFORD likes him so we do to! GET BEHIND MALC he is only fighting what the fans think! SALFORDTILLIDIE!

| No man is bigger than the club, lets get behind salford n leave what ever's happening with malc for JW etc to sort. Will always have 100% respect for malc for his years playing, nothing will change that. but lets just get behind the players.

| Greatest respect for him as a player.
Nothing will change that.
It's clear as day that he cannot carry on at the Club, though

| I've not said anything on the A;ker subject yet as I clearly have no idea what went on. However to take the action he has against the club means that he surely cannot return to the club. If this was a run of the mill private sector business then fine, but it's not, it's a sports club. Whether the club is in the wrong or not you shouldn't really bring union's in (so publicly). The latest story about the protest just seems like sour grapes from Malc which is a real shame.

| I feel sorry for Malc, he has given a lot to the club and must be respected for what he has done. He’s jumped into a difficult situation and was unprepared to be thrust into head coaches’ role this season. When he was ‘in charge’ of the team (if he ever actually was), all the decisions made he was accountable for, like Mcrae, Harrison and Mccormack all were before him. Yet, Simms has again managed to avoid all accountability for any poor performance but still maintains a substantial amount of power, probably more than any of those coaches. We all know HE signs these players because none of the coaches ever go on these recruitment drives in Australia, so why does he not have to justify his choices? There has been a succession of under achieving teams for a long time now and the one common denominator is Simms. Every Salford fan knows Malcolm Alker has given 110% to this club as a player and probably in his short time as a coach. If there has been some kind of spat between the two I know which one will have the clubs best interests at heart and not his own.

| I'd be very surprised if Simms didn't go on these trips with a shopping list from the coach. I'm pretty certain that SM decided wholey who he wanted to buy and then Simms has the job of going getting them for him.

| Well ive got my doubts about that, but either way I dont understand how anyone in such an influential position is unaccountable for their role in the organisation. Everybody around the guy has lost their jobs as a result of poor performances yet he is consistently selecting these people for the job and does not have to justify his own role. Give him the head coaches job and we might force the issue.

I doubt he decides wholly too.
