| I don't understand some of these comments about not getting a statement from the club re the Alker situation. Simms spoke about the situation after the Cas game on the radio and his comments were printed in the Manchester Evening News. This appears to be a legal matter and I'm sure the club are taking advice from their legal people about not commenting further on the matter. They are obviously in a no position to tell us supporters anything more than we already know.
To me these comments seem more to do with frustration and wanting the matter rersolved, despite the club obviously being in no position to sort it out quickly. Sh*t happens sometimes and you just have to grin and bear it.
Was it not a very similar situation with Wigan and Martin Gleeson?

| Quote: REDRUM "So what your basically saying is you dont care what happens to the club? FFS get a grip - we are going through a bumpy final season but weve been thro worse times. There are many positives to look forward to and if two defeats and abit of internal politics make you turn your back to the club well it beggers belief. I cannot understand the thought process of some loyal supporters....'"
I don't think any of it was meant the way you took it.
There are many Loyal fans who have invested bucket-loads of cash, time, and effort for decades. I don't think any one of the sensible posters on here are blowing the current situation out of proportion, they are simply sick and tired of seeing the same niggles, internal politics and poor resolutions crop-up over and over again. These kind of things will inevitably happen from time to time but the Club never seems to learn anything from their resolutions.
You need to be pretty thick-skinned to be a Salford supporter.
You need skin of iron to be a veteran Salford supporter.
I guess the constant, admittedly small, upsets off the pitch add-up over time to some supporters. They could probably forgive those mistakes if the Club was progressing in other areas such as on-field matters. What they see is a constant grey line of a Club just tottering along the same way for thirty plus years. When you make that lifetime commitment to your Club as a fan, thirty years of nothing really happening takes its toll.

Absolutely nailed it there pal. I could not have put it better myself.

| JM, I respect your view and understand the points you are making, I am continuing to support my team home & away but I am starting to pick my games away from home, hopefully my blind faith will be rewarded tomorrow night.

| They'll always be a few people with blind faith, they're probably the ones who the club feel of least too also. Many establishments go to the wall because of this. I respect your decision JM, couldn't blame you one iota. Posters on here stating the club need you more now than ever are likely to be coveting their own desire for the club to survive for their own self indulgence. I respect that also but find it laughable they feel to lay blame on decisions like yours. If the club doesnt act fast and put things straight then they may as well stop too.
Its cruel to be kind springs to mind.

| I can see where most people are coming from and it is a difficult situation it must have affect on all the players. The problem with salford is they leave desition making to long and sohuld decide what they want to do sooner than later. as for results to me i feel its down to training on coaching and at times we look like we cant play for 80 mins we need a fresh ideas now for three years of franchise we have finnished in bottom to and no improvement. In which case how can you attract a new fan to a new stadium seeing an average 40 points plus a game avarage there not. I feel the club needs to move forward and were going backwords we are the only club in three years that have had no improvement in super league so i really understand the fans view when money is tight these days why they wont pay money to get in. I wont give up on them but how long as fans can we take what is going on the park with players coaching staff and just feel they need new coach and change things to give the fans something to look forward. we were told top 8 finnish this season but being realistice we dont stand a chance and i feel this position will effect are franchise when they see no improvement in three years. Come on reds lets start playing some good rugby bring on bradford on saturday

Started watching Salford in 1970 my 41st year now, at least I saw a great side, the hard bit has been the last 30 years, maybe if the first ten were as bad as the last thirty I wouldn't still be suffering.

You couldn't be more wrong and I don't have blind faith, I've watched Salford for nearly 40 years and I've seen the good times and the awful times but I'll never walk away from the club, ever. I recall saying that Jim had to follow his heart and I'm sure he will do, but your suggestion that I want the club 'to survive for my own self indulgence' is wide of the mark, from what I can see the club doesn't seem to be in any imminent danger of extinction anyway and I really think people need to calm down - bad employment decisions by the club in recent times, maybe, but they come and go, the club will get through it I'm sure (I'm standing in for the Optimist by the way, where is he? I need cheering up). Oh and thanks for respectfully laughing but I don't blame Jim for anything actually, as I've said it's up to him.

| Possibly slightly off topic but if we continue stumbling from one cock up to another this season can we see all the better players staying? I wouldn't in the slightest bit be surprised if we continue in this vane to see one (or maybe more than) Patton, Houldsworth or maybe Cashmere decide they've had enough. If we were getting beaten and the club was being run in a stable manner I doubt this would be an issue but shambolic seems to suit is perfectly at the minute.
Salford Shambolic Reds.

I have supported Salford through thick and thin and travelled everywhere to watch them 96-16 at Bradford just being one humiliation, i can live with that but when the club treats you like they have with us this week ive had enough.
Good luck to all that attend the forthcoming games just hope your money is well spent....
To paraphrase,...............................A week is a long time in rugby league.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Oh I don't know, I remember a certain poster who used to start every post with "I have a dream" (or was it had a dream?).
