Could be that the chairman selects the team.

| It feels like Fages is holding the team to ransom at the moment. Either directly or indirectly. Maybe I'm wide of the mark and IH is just losing the plot with regards to team selection.
Having the talent of Chase playing at FB is criminal, and if Dobson isn't fit he simply shouldn't be selected. If Evalds is carrying a knock or unfit then surely BJB could have moved there (Where his talents can be utilised) Fages as interchange at hooker with Hood, and Chase and Dobson in the halves.
I posted on another thread during the week some stats on assists.
Our team relies heavily on Chase to provide them. So much so, that if you decide to play him in an unfamiliar position, statistically, we'll probably lose. It highlights, to me, some baffling choices for the line-up from IH, as I'm sure he must be aware that we are a team that puts its eggs in one basket?
The style this team are playing, if indeed it's deliberate from IH, is not one I'm particularly interested in watching at the moment. Reliance on a single talent, players played out of position, wingers redundant, with centres and hookers used as extra forwards.
I'm increasingly falling out of love with my Club at the moment...

| I can see us finishing 12th, Wakefield might get some results and overtake us.
Re- last nights game, who keeps giving penalties away. If it's the same people they should be dropped

I think that's right. The team selection is wrong. I find it difficult to believe that Harris would put up with interference from above so we must assume it's Harris' team.
Chase at full back is indeed a waste, and assuming Evalds is fit,it's daft leaving him out.
Surely the club know whether Theo's mind can be changed . He played well last night but 3 halves into 2 positions won't go.
I said on a different thread that I don't know what team I'd select but,if pushed, I'd go with Evalds at 1, Chase and Dobson in the halves and Theo as interchange.
We also need a more slippery centre.
Finally,where's Hauraki ?

simpsons/PDT13.gif I SEE THE SALFORD REDS ARE RISING!
bring on 22nd July:simpsons/PDT13.gif |
|
| Not normally one for doom and gloom but last night was the final straw for me personally.
All that talent on that pitch and to come up short again?
Such an amateur mistake in the end but it just wasn't that one mistake,
as everyone else has said it is the discipline not just on penalties but discipline of tackling, completing sets!
That for me is down to the coach and the staff.
It is going to take a while to install a winning culture at a club but you need a winning coach mentality and as much as I respect Harris I just don't think he is up to thte task now.
The club need new direction and fresh ideas going into the middle 8's so that we can build on next year.
A new coach now will also let him see the team as it is now and see where he needs to improve.
I hope Tim Sheens does want to take it on as that would give us some credibility we truly need!
All in all after watching salford for 20 odd years that has to be the most deflated i have been for a while (not as bad as headingly- BUT AT LEAST WE GOT TO THE SEMI IN THE FIRST PLACE LOL),
And if no change is made I will not be going back this year or maybe ever, this goes for me, my wife and another 5 of us!
Rant over

| If Harris is playing Fages under the instruction from Koukash, then he should walk now. No coach should listen to the opinion of an owner regardless of their experience or knowledge within RL.
Also, why are persisting to play someone who doesn't want to be at the club anymore particularly when it is at the detriment to the balance of the team. It is an absolute travesty that Niall Evalds wasn't playing last night and even worse not having Rangi in the halves. I thought Fages was brilliant last night though, but when all 3 half backs are fit a difficult choice has to be made. Dobson or Theo - simple as that. As a coach you're paid to make difficult choices, Harris appeared to yesterday sh*t out of making such difficult choice and opted to drop the quiet kid who earns next to nothing.
Pathetic decision.
With regards to Harris, get rid now. If you're thinking he can do any better than he currently is you're deluding yourself. As has been said previously, the bloke has failed wherever he has gone. Wigan were more than happy to see him leave too, no surprises.

If Wakefield do not win tonight, that is impossible. Wakefield need to win every match they have left and Salford would need to lose all theirs.

| Apart from the bizarre team selection again, constant penalties and dreadful error at the end, where was the consistency from a number of the players considering the magnitude of the game (that lies with the coach in my eyes as does the penalties)? I worry as I have for some time about the coach situation and whether with the squad we have at our disposal he will be capable of successfully getting us through the middle eights - for me, even at this late stage a change is needed i'm afraid. I'm devastated with last nights result tbh and very dissapointed with what could and should have been this season. Something has to give.

Definitely agree with this. And as a result of such nonsense we will probably end up ing Niall off and therefore could lose both him and Theo.
Full back should be Niall 100%, 6 should be Chase 100% as they are undoubtedly our best players in those positions. 7 should be left open for Theo and Dobson to contest over, if Theo wants automatic selection then so be it, he can find it somewhere else. I like Theo but we should not be pandering to players wishes when they put in a transfer request, it sends out a terrible message to anyone else who feels that they are indispensable to the club.
Whether or not it's Harris who had final say on the team last night, he is the manager and is paid to make tough selection decisions, he is paid to find a way to win games when we have a depleted squad and he is paid to stop players from consistently making individual errors which cost us games. The buck stops with him.

I think the lads did show some heart to get back into the game at 28-10 down. And there was nothing wrong with the commitment at Wigan a couple of weeks ago.
Individual 'daft' errors I would agree with, but maybe that's a result of the players actually caring and putting undue pressure on themselves? Someone (i.e. the Head Coach) needs to be aware of this and help fix the problem.

| Agree the commitment was great against Wigan but just feel at times was lacking probably because of the pressure 'put' on them for this game. Agree it was shown for us to get back into the game but HKR were always looked like they were up for it more imo. I think i'm just totally fed up with all the false hope.

32990_1435324474.jpg First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg |

| There is a lot of blame being attributed on social media to our team selection. My view is we lost the game because we defended poorly, gave away daft penalties as usual and failed to bother attempting to catch a ball directly from a kick off. Let’s remember we scored 28 points and that should be enough to win every game if the team defends properly. Special mention for Josh Griffin who kicked some excellent goals last night.
It was a mixed performance from Theo Fages, instrumental with some decent try assists but his defence also cost us a couple of tries. Dobson doesn’t look 100% fit but I thought in general our kicks up field were better than usual last night. Chase didn’t offer much at fullback and I think Harris needs to have a rethink.
It’s visually obvious the players aren’t enjoying playing rugby at the moment and lack confidence as individuals and we just don’t look like a team. The surprising factor and disappointment for me was that we didn’t look like a side that had enjoyed 6 extra days preparation.
The team are lacking a spark and don’t seem to have the fire of really wanting a result. I know we fought back and scored a few tries last night but I didn’t think we had to work too hard for this. There is I believe a negative psychological factor surrounding this club that affects our players and this needs to be addressed. Hopefully this is something Tim Sheen’s can identify and resolve.
You also have to question what was said or not said at half-time by Harris because Hull KR came out second half and looked like they wanted it much more than we did. It’s also evident that Harris is allowing our centres to play like battering rams and our wingers never see the ball unless they get an occasional pass from Dobson or Chase. If there’s very little threat out wide it allows our opponents to close the space down the middle easier.
The main concern though for me is the failure to improve and resolve the same problems week after week. It's time for one of those cards on the table meetings I believe.

Excellent post, Just a thought the coaching staff are paid to make sure we learn from our inability to stop giving silly penalties away, penalties lose matches therefore maybe it is the time for some serious question to be asked from our current coaching staff?

| I have supported Harris throughout the poor period but with all the `stars` there last night expected a win though all the Bookies had it as +6 and they were spot on.
Sheens is the ONLY man in my view to decide on Harris. He will see the inner workings and whether players are developing and for me unless God was available I would stick with the current staff until seasons end unless the experienced Aussie has an alternative view.
Agree with much has been said especially from theredshed but I will be there Sunday supporting.
