| Quote Magic Superbeetle="Magic Superbeetle"Fair point. Line speed seemed to be your biggest problem from a saints point of view - you'd either send 3 guys charging at 1st receiver, and we simply passed around you, or you gave us all the space in the world!
We had one very big player out
'"
The speed was frightening, particularly in the first 40. It's great for me, the real Saints turned up tonight and that kind of intensity will benefit Salford's progress in the long run.
No club will take us lightly anymore and that will really help improve us as a team.
Saints gave us respect and I applaud them for that.

| Quote Bruce_Forsyth="Bruce_Forsyth"I know all you lot are thinking you are going to lift it, but on tonight's evidence Salford are light years away from winning the Grand Final.
An owner full of hot air, a coach who only ever has one plan and is past it and a hugely overrated side full of OAPs...not a good combination, all told.
And I don't see it getting any better.
Salford are not a big club.'"
You keep trying to troll when almost no Salford fans are making wild predictions.

| Good thread,Wirecutter,
It hasn't calmed me down because I have definitely been to Hell tonight, watching that !
I like St Helens, for a whole host of reasons and I congratulate them.
I must remind myself that Nathan Brown has been there far longer than Brian Noble has been at Salford, and Nathan Brown got off to a very bad start last year.
So much so that Mr McManus got himself involved - [url=http://www.dailystar.co.uk/rugby-league/339754/Eamonn-McManus-rap-stirs-up-St-HelensStory[/url
Losing 1 game in February means absolutely nothing.
Well done Stuart Howarth for his last tackle option with 2 minutes remaining.
Credit where it's due.

| Saints were great.
We were blown away at first but then we defended exceptionally well for the rest of the first half.
Their third try was the killer and it was downhill after that.
Didn't understand the kicking game at all. That's Smith's strength usually.
Tasi and Hansen were surprisingly quiet and, apart from Hock, our attack was very weak.

| That Saints team will put bigger scores past better teams who have been together longer.

| Saints would have probably beaten anyone on their performance. It was a massive arm wrestle the whole match and we had no spark in attack which was the difference. I'm not overly bothered. The team never stopped trying and will get better and better.

| If Saints play that well all season, they will win trophies. I doubt they would've played that well against the team we had last year - I really think that they raised their game, expecting a bigger battle.
My only criticism is that our kicking game was poor, perhaps when Chase is back it will take some pressure off Smith and this part of his game will improve? Walsh was exceptional for them.
Let's get 2 points from Widnes, and let's take that game seriously as a marker for improvement, then let's look at Wire - I mean, Myler and Ratchford shouldn't scare us!

| Bonita Red - Please get your Dinner Party mate Nobby to abandon his 5 aimless drives and aimless kick/up and under tactics. Drives me mad and so predictable. Where are you Rangi when needed?

| Saints were my tip to win the whole thing before a ball had been kicked, last night they shown why. Whilst they didn't do anything spectacular they did the basics so well. They were tough in defence, quick round the PTB and and moved the ball outwide quick. Add Mase Masoe to those forwards and they've got a formidable pack with a set of even better backs.
I don't think we'll play a better team all season and I don't think we'll play any worse. Had we scored at 12-0 when we were on their line it would have been different, we were the better team for the opening 10-15 of the second half but instead Saints went the full length and put the game to bed
Last night was never going to define our season, or show far we've come, as the Wakefield or London game wouldn't. Still too many individuals playing and I wouldn't expect this to change until after 12 games in.
We obviously missed Rangi massively on the left side, Griffin also.
Dust ourselves down and go again at Widnes next week, these are the games we should be winning.
