Every club sings songs like the one you refer to. To put the balance right thank you Batley for the hospitality great setup & great club.

| As a Batley supporter I didn't mind as I assumed the singing was ironic. After all, they come from Salford!!

| The OP is a Wakey fan and sees fit to comment on other clubs' fans attitudes to grounds! Irony or what?

I presume when you mention irony you're referring to your own post?
Why would fans sneer at an opponents ground anyway, it's not like they personally financed their own clubs facilities!
Many clubs in S.L. have been gifted new grounds & good luck to them, but to deride another clubs facilities is pretty crass.
Wakefield supporters have to put up with their dump year after year, Jeez, The Willows was in better nick when it was shut down! Also year after year they have to endure the snotty comments from supporters of other clubs about the state of Belle Vue.
So, if anyone is qualified to comment on other clubs fans attitudes to grounds, it's er' a Wakefield fan.

But perhaps having a go at Salford fans on a Salford board is going to get a response? We get a lot of flak about our inaccessible ground and lack of fans as it is.

Wakefield can't even get an inaccessible ground sorted!
Good luck next week, it's a shame for me one of you has to go down as I like both clubs.
There will be no elation for the victors only relief, for the losers, just endless jibes, but they wont be from Wakefield fans as we'll probably be in the same boat again next year & already know how harrowing it is.

| It's a terrible chant. I think those 'singing' it did actually use the word 'Yorkshire' rather than Batley if that helps at all. FWIW I enjoyed my visit there yesterday and my 13 year old said he much preferred going to 'grounds like this' rather than the newer stadiums we have visited. The Willows was -shall we say - showing it's age before we left. Most Salford fans would return in a heartbeat.

| Personally, I think Batley is a great ground. I dislike these modern grounds. And the entertainment was spot on behind the scenes.

Batley have a great set up, one of a decreasing number of clubs who have their own ground. Great place to watch rugby league.
The Willows was not in a state. No doubt it would have needed some investment but when we left it was certainly fit for purpose.
We are extremely lucky to have a new ground. So lucky that if we had have finished 4th we wouldn't have been able to play the game at home!!

| I hate that song and was surprised it was sung for so long. Don't remember us singing it much in the past
But I think Salford fans showed respect to Batley and it was good so many of us stayed behind to clap the bulldogs off the field.
I'd forgotten how much I like Batley's ground and even the 20 minute queue for a pie couldn't put me off. The set up is excellent. So many personal touches Tom the bar to the memorial garden, friendly stewards and good band
I had a great day out

| Think a few people are going slightly OTT over this! That song is sung at almost every ground by every set of fans. Far less offensive than that the majority of the drum accompanied garbage churned out at most SL grounds!

| It's my age but I get fed up with this. Irony? It's not what you use on your shirty.
I did enjoy my visit to Batley and have always. It's always good to visit a place that makes Rochdale look inhabitable.
AND that's an ironical statement.

| I enjoyed your visit and found the fans I spoke to convivial and complimentary. Sadly, one particular Batley supporter did his best to tarnish our reputation by launching a disgusting and seemingly unprovoked display of aggression towards a Salford fan on the stroke of half-time. Thankfully he was restrained. The whole incident was very distressing for all those stood in the vicinity - particularly my 5 year old grandson who was absolutely terrified. I'd like to extend my apologies to the Salford fan who was targeted. I don't know the name of the supporter in question, but I hope his embarrassing behaviour is dealt with by our club.

I agree it is a song everyone sings. Not massively offensive. Just naff and I don't like it. As I say I don't remember it being a favourite in the Salford Canon so was surprised it got such and airing at Batley. Might just have not noticed us singing in the past
