I noticed the Doc tweeted earlier saying there will be at least another 4 signings for next year. Hopefully this will dispel all the social media gossip about a salary cap restriction/reduction for 2016. I do feel quite relieved really with this news because I thought the squad looked a little on the light side after all the departures.


Perhaps the club have been holding off the announcements until the conclusion of Saturday's Grand Final?

Where do you see the priority positions? Pacy centre, hooker, prop and a back row forward for me.

How many hookers can we field? I thought we have/can claim three if we take up the Tomkins loan for a further season. Sensible query. Hood is staying? Even the Union army in the 1860s managed with one.

I've not been on social media to check what the Doc said, but going off this thread, all he has said is that we are going to sign four more players, not that our salary cap hasn't been reduced. We may well sign four more players, but that we could very well still be operating within the new cap.

Look at the number of players we have released and think about the size of contract they must have been on? Paterson, Chase, Hansen, Locke and hock alone must have been the sum total of at least £600,000, possibly/probably more. Then there is Morley, Taylor,and Tasi on top of that. With the exception of Morley and Taylor, we could easily find better value for money than all of those players.

No way the signings made + the promotion of the U19s to the squad would add up to anywhere near the cap.

Dr K. stated in his Premier Sports interview that next year could be the year that Salford breaks even on anticipated crowds of (from memory) 4,200... That I think clearly shows that the financial support is being reined in and the full cap won't be spent!

Or it's possible he's realised throwing money at random players doesn't guarantee success. The way Hock and Locke have failed to perform and slightly lacklustre displays from the other seasoned professionals that were brought in, has cost us points on more than one occasion. Sheens and Watson have obviously been watching us getting out enthused and decided to spend the money in a more sensible fashion.

Since the first year’s accounts revealed losses of £5.1m, that would be a remarkable turnaround. The club’s accounts are due in a couple of weeks, so if they are filled on time, perhaps they will provide more insight here.

Remarkable turnaround is an understatement! I'll believe it when I see the figures, but hopefully the Sheens magic will turn us into a competitive side that gets plenty of bums on seats... and cash in the bank!
