| I thought this was a really interesting game. To go 22 up and be pegged back at half time set up the promise of a good second half. We kept nudging ahead and being pegged back and eventually went 8 behind. What would a typical Salford team do? Normally capitulate and give up! Not this team They dug deep, gave it a go and came away with a great point.
Well done to the team for a great effort near the end.
One observation, we give away far too many cheap penalties, especially on the 6th tackle.
Well done to the team!

| I would be surprised if 2teams go there and get anything! Don't under estimate how great a result this is! Our season is up and running! Hope we get a good crowd for the next match. Ilestyn has worked his magic, keep the faith!

| Very impressed with the spirit today, a point at Catalans is a big point. Really proud of the team, they had to dig deep. Got to single out Paterson - he was immense. Would you keep him at centre? He seemed very effective.
We look great going forward even with a few missing, but our defence and in particular our discipline needs to improve massively. We are constantly putting ourselves under needless pressure by giving away penalties and gifting teams field position. Our actual tackling is much better but you can't give teams chance after chance to gain easy yards, you're bound to concede points.
Locke looks to be getting closer to full fitness. He has to be in the team when fit, you can see from the little touches and his awareness that he is world class. He also seems to be on rangi's wavelength which can only be a good thing.
Tommy Lee was great again, looks to have massively improved his passing speed and really got us moving early doors.
Roll on next week.

| I'd suggest giving Darrell Griffin a bit of a rest, he does seem to be a bit of a penalty machine...it was the same story with him versus Hull as well.

| Have to agree about the penalties conceded. Almost every Catalans try came after stupid unnecessary penalties. This was a great point but should have been 2 with a bit of discipline.

We had all the momentum in the opening 22 minutes, it was basically rugby league perfection. Then they had more ball than us because we gave a few pens away like they did, and we allow them back in the game. The key is keeping the momentum but it's easier said than done against a good team like Catalan on their own pitch.
I think today was a good lesson for the players of how important possession is. Anyway I'm not going to be too hard on the boys because it was a much better result than I expected with our injury situation and Catalans form.
Well done Salford!

| The penalties come as a result of aggressive defense. Harris wants speed and aggression, and coaches them that way. It can put you on the front foot and turn a game. The other side of the coin is that you will give more penalties away. I think we have seen both sides of that coin since the start of the season. Late in the tackle count penalties are a serious no-no, and nearly cost us today. They need looking at.
A valuable away point is always welcome, especially given the opposition. If we tighten-up, give less penalties and maintain the enthusiasm shown today, we'll be on the right track.

| Sorry,I posted on the wrong thread !
Was expecting a hammering for all the reasons we saw. Great halfbacks and big strong backs. So I thought they'd probably score 40.
Just didn't think that we would !
I don't think there was a bad individual performance in our team. If I was being picky,I'd say that Adam Walne is a bit lucky to make the 17 .
Massive effort so well done to all concerned.
Cummins said that ref was wrong for the final penalty. Thought that the rule he referred to only applies if player breaks out of the tackle just as the referee shouts 'held'. This was different,he grounded the ball so he was tackled before he broke away again,so I think the rule change doesn't apply. Surprised to win the penalty, though,in all honesty

| Re the penalty right at the end, for me it made for the 1st conversion that sailed through that for some reason wasn't given not for some reason did anyone make anything of.

| Definitely would gave taken the point before the game. From 22-0 up we should have won. But with so many injuries, Paterson drafted in as a centre and Locke coming in at the last minute, it's no wonder our defence out wide wasn't up to much. Was exciting and thought we'd blown it
Too many penalties by both teams. Terrible problems with the pictures for salford's dominant spell at the beginning which was a shame. But quality performance going forward. All players did well but especially J Walne, Lee, Paterson, Hanson and Hauraki

| Looking on social media people are saying it shouldn't of been a penalty at the end. To be honest i only knew the rule when leeds played hull on thursday and a leeds player was penalized for passing the ball on the floor when tackled. Anyway it was justice for Griffins kick that wasnt given when it clearly was

| the penalty was a disgraceful decision, really leaves a bitter taste in the mouth... but I can't justify our paper thin defence in that first twenty minutes. Strange game but you looked far better than in round 2 vs St Helens. Good luck for the rest of the year.
