I am awaiting today's Koukash interview to appear in the digital MEN. If you can get hold of the paper, he certainly feels that the club he has bought is in need of a very vigorous spring clean.

Interesting footnote in that article about a new young Antipodean assistant coach arriving soon.I was wondering whether this would happen ie Assistant coach to the main Coach who is unavailable until the end of the season?

Nothing that we fans haven't been saying for the last <n> years - where <n> is a number somewhat greater than 10?

Someone should give him a first issue of the Turkey (published 15 years ago now!).

Just read it myself - the good doc is once again 100% correct. Why give it 2 or 3 months to get even worse? Thats 2 or 3 months less time of being competitive and 2 or 3 months less time to build for the future. Change was needed and still is needed and he's not afraid to change the club for the better!

Isn't it strange how fans, pundits and commentators all say that sporting clubs should be run on a sound business footing. Yet the minute somebody who is a successful businessman implements a business strategy, he is pilloried for having no history in the game. One of life's little quirks!

If I was in the Doctor's position I’d go all out for Tim Sheens to start after the World Cup. I’d allow Sheens to decide who he wants as an interim coach to carry his instructions for the remainder of the season. I’d also let Sheens decide which players he wants to come and go before he officially starts.

Sheens is an older coach good for stability. A younger coach is needed that can rebuild the club, ideally one ready to come now. From all reports the Doctor wants immediate results Why would Sheens come to Salford after his Tigers payout? He wants an NRL club and he'll retain the top Aussie job as well.

It's undoubtedly in no small part due to the fact that we have been used to supporting a club in stagnation (decline) for the last 25 years, but is anyone else a little nervous with what is going on?

It seems the Dr is going to try and get to the top asap, but by doing so, it seems he's instilling a culture of fear about the place. Is this healthy? I guess when we start winning everything will appear easier for everyone, but until then...well let's jut say I'm glad I'm not working there.

Or bring Sheens in for two years to put all the structures in place and have a younger assistant coach learning off him to eventually take over.

I think the Dr realises the club needs substantial investment to progress, he also knows that he needs to change the culture and mentality within the club quickly or he will be wasting his time, effort and money. I think he's making some big statements that say I'm not playing at this and I want the best value for money out of everyone that works for the club, and if your not up to it you will soon know where the exit door is. I kind of understand what you mean about being nervous but I think his actions are aimed more at any slackers or energy sappers within the club.

I think most of us accept the culture at the club has to change. Goodbye to people being employed because they know someone else there.

The new club will hopefully employ the best suited. For some employees it will be a pleasure to finally get the resources to do the job to the best of their ability. Look at Paul McNally filming the press conference without a tripod, small issue but says much about the finances of the club and the make do and mend.

Wilkie did an outstanding service to keep us afloat as long as he did but we need this culture change and is similar to what happened when Harrison arrived. He reveiwed the whole playing side of things and we are finally seeing some benefits.

I am worried that Koukash will get bored but hopefully he will have addressed the problems before moving on.

The culture of the club probably stunk when Phil Veivers accepted the position of head coach.
To sack the most experienced rugby league man at the club while attendances have plummeted and the infra-structure of the club is so bad doesn't seem like the most auspicious start.
It may be a sacrifice at the altar of success and I await the success still to come.Stability, continuity or the people to take the club forward in place, would be nice.
Since the January takeover still no settled squad,no long-term head coach,no return of those spectators who promised to attend once Wilkinson went, nothing in the club shop etc.

I did notice on one forum a fan of another club asking if another Super League club would take on Phil Veivers.
I would turn that on it's head and ask if any other Super League coach would take on the same squad as Phil Veivers and expect much change ? Interesting that a new head coach has passed comment, but those who usually comment on all manner of subjects, have remained silent.
Even Garry Schofield has expressed sympathy.

The Phil Veivers sacking has been well and sympathetically covered.
The consensus is that its a great shame but he wasn't the man to take us to the top ,so better sooner rather than later.
Most fans have said that.
You seem to be saying that nothing much has happened since he took over.
No settled squad yet? Not sure what's expected by now but there's plenty going on,surely.

I think you have to accept what has happened. Anybody with an ounce of sentiment will feel the same way.

However its clear to me that the Dr has spoken to Lowe who no doubt had witnessed Training drills etc last week.

To appoint the Head of Youth to me speaks volumes of Alan Hunte`s qualities and as long as AH has a role in the future cemented no matter his performance with the existing squad then I would be happy. I have a LOT of time for him and he is by far the most decorated man at the club at the moment .....certainly without any baggage.
