Fundraising will take time so think we need emergency funding in the immediate.
( I am using computers in libraries and the country, despite it's austerity measures, has discovered lots of instant christians on a 2 weeks holiday )
At the meeting on Monday - 'heart of gold' and 'rabbit out of a hat' flickered through my brain.
Small(ish) soccer clubs have been owned by Gold who made his millions through pornography.
I don't have time to moralise at the moment.
His daughter Jacqeline Gold is rlvery richrl and no doubt competitive.Would she be prepared to take on a sports club? She will know Karen Brady who was chief executive at BirminghamCity FC and joined that club with her father.
We need to use the female angle. Can Cavendish Street compose an email or contact her ? The good thing is Gold knows Claire Balding, who is sapphic like Cavendish/Louise,and who not only has positive things to say about rugby league will have contact with Robbie Hunter Paul - haven't read his book;hope he is positive about Salford and Ian Millward - believe his father was a director/involved in financing a club in Australia.
The MEN piece you did,I considered circumspect, concise and crucial and I think will need to be used when contacting Gold. rlHererl
Long shot I know but deperate times call for desperate measures.
Play on the female side of good housekeeping - Don't mention Kath Hetherington just that men keep taking rugby league clubs into admin.
Please research -everything - before submission.Go for it.........can only be turned down !
That's my time gone.I'll be there Thursday.

| Karen Brady? Have another look at her business record ..... she's one of those many 'successful' people that leave a trail of bankruptcy & relegation behind them yet still seem to jump from high paid job to high paid job!
Would Salford not be better looking closer (a lot, lot closer) to home for finance ...... we're talking about sums of money here that certain footballers look upon as loose change. Has anyone asked, for instance, Paul Scholes if he'd like to buy into the club? He's a Salford lad and like many footballers, he has a big admiration for RL ...... how would Reds fans look upon being owned/run by a consortium of Scholes/Giggs/Keane/Rooney etc? If they split the bill 4 ways it'd less than they spend on cars each year!
Anythings got to be better for you than being at the mercy of Peel holdings and a cash starved council!

Gold would be the target and Brady a friend telling her about running a sports club in a male-dominated environment.
The idea came about after JW stated he advertised in the Financial Times. This could have resulted in another David Lloyd at Hull FC scenario - though they did strike lucky with the KC Stadium !
Just a pity the reporters in the MEN didn't discuss matters and Albert Finney the actor could have been asked if there was any in that field/film directing who wished to emulate Russell Crowe.
PS - Interesting difference in attitude of councils with Newham Council,in a less than affluent area of London-loaning 40m for the stadium Gold and West Ham United hope to be using - rlClick On The Linksrl
Time is ticking down....

| The majority of Salford fans feel Forever Reds isn't transparent enough hence Swinton having a larger number of members.
Taking a look at last weeks M.E.N piece made me want to vomit, at the end of the day were in this mess due to pathetic fanancial judgement calls to which we the fans was just expected to put up and shut up with no consultation regarding the recent years of planning of this White elephant. Now all of a sudden Mr Salford wants us the fans to bail him out. He wants to consult now the fan has been hit, no one with any sense would touch us with a barge pole under current standings. I refuse point blank to part with any cash to aid Mr Salfords debt. If the funds were used to help form another club after administration then I'd give my right arm to reform 2013. Administration has to be the only way.
Merry Christmas.....

| Administration seems the only option for you with the size of debts owing, and that excludes a write off of DL's.
My advice to a fans group is to set up an account and make payments that allow large scale participation, eg from £10 a month to as much as that person wants to commit. Target 1000 fans and £100k pa to take over or if you are allowed to stay in SL become an equity partner in Newco.
RL is a community sport that should encourage community ownership.
The biggest win from administration will be a renegotiated contract with the stadium company, be prepared to walk away from the stadium to force their hand.
Have a Great Christmas and good luck in the weeks ahead.

| Forget about any footballer investing in the club.
Although they watch RL putting money in is a total different matter.
Besides Rooney supports Saint Helens, Giggs Wigan and not one of them has probably ever been to the Willows or Barton.
It would be great if a friendly match could be organised involving Man United and the proceeds going to Salford.
How about FCUM arranging a game against Salford FC again with proceeds to SRLFC.
Finally everyone always goes on about the Rugby League community so for our friendly against Swinton a 8K crowd with fans attending from all other clubs with all proceeds to Salford would also be a great help.
Problem with any ideas now is that there is just not enough time to get arrangements in place.

Rooney is Leeds, bizarrely. I think FCUM and Salford City FC would both have a fair claim to needing money themselves, so I think the best bet would be for the Swinton game to be built up. I'm not holding my breath on that though.

You may need your right arm if you are the new club secretary/ advertising guru / public relations officer.
Doesn't look like there will be any Christmas Message for the supporters so it's back to the information vacuum.
I hope the RFL ain't keeping quiet while they're waiting for a loan.
Dear Santa,
Mediation skills book urgently required for Philyourboots to accompany his 'Art of political persuasion by gentle words' set.
If FR isn't transparent enough why hasn't anyone else started up an alternative group instead of waiting until now in a vain attempt to cause disaffection.
On the strength of the MEN piece I shall double my pledge as no one has had a better piece publicised.Don't know whether Neil Barker should be praised for editing what was said but it was succinct and appealing.
Anyone out there got any ideas on how the money can be raised prior to 7th Jan ?

| It can't.
What we should be wishing for, from January 7 th is anything other than an adjournment.
Once we know what's happening legally, then a strategy can be formed.
At this stage I would guess that only the people directly involved know what's likely to happen so ,sure have contingency thoughts, but we will need to see what happens.
The events of January 7 th might well flush out an alternative and with the best will in the world it won't be Jacqueline Gold or Paul Scholes !!
