| Care to believe 1000s were in attendance at the stadium this weekend. Did SCR have a stall? Open club shop? Have games for juniors? Neville the Devil make an appearance? Marketing department doing their level best again I see. Anyone care to defend this or is it an over achievement that 1000's attended because it was built and they came....

| Over 700 stalls apparently, yet nothing from Salford. The event was even organised by Real Radio who I believe are one of our sponsors?
On a similar theme, the stadium car park has been used as a park and ride for the olympics football games at Old Trafford. Don't suppose anyone from the club popped out and distributed a few leaflets onto the car windscreens promoting Salfords upcoming fixtures?

| with a bit of a white lie the club could have put stickers on car windows stating that the next match is an Olympic event, having watched the crowds at OT, it would appear some people would go to watch anything if they thought it was in the Olympics

| What's to say there wasn't a group of wealthy investors shopping for bargains at this event?

Do you think the club should have taken the opportunity to have some sort of presence at the car boot sale?

I think fans who want them to do such things should show a bit more foresight than hindsight. They should also volunteer their own time to help make it happen.

I emailed the club before the womens football international to see if they had any plans for anything such as handing out leaflets etc promoting Salford, and also volunteered to help out if they were planning anything. As usual, no one replied.
The fact is we had 5500 at the stadium for a womens football game, 700+ stalls for a car boot which caused traffic gridlock due to the number of visitors, and have had a full car park on at least 4 occasions for the olympics park and ride, yet there hasn't even been something such as a poster on the club shop window advertising our next game. You have previously claimed our lack or marketing is down to our low budget, but I am presuming one poster on the club shop window is within our budget? Having these events at the stadium is one major positive of playing at Barton compared to The Willows. The official branding for the Olympics park and ride even referred to it as 'Salford Reds Stadium' rather than the official title. We are actually getting some brand awareness but yet seem to have no idea or even intention to capitalise on it.

Come on - you're the one who extols the power of marketing!!
It would seem to have been an easy opportunity to target, at very low cost, some new potential supporters - a definite miss by the club I'd say

So marketing the club is now down to the supporters and no one employed by Salford City Reds? You're really scraping the barrel now, pal.
And people have suggested this to the club and people have also volunteered to help. The club still haven't done a thing. But hey, it's the fans' fault.

Sterling effort, exactly the kind of thing I meant. Tell me if I've missed the post you left here at the time, I rarely bother to login here nowadays, but why wait until now to share this?

I'm not a huge believer in marketing, at least not window posters or leaving flyers on car windscreens. So I'm finding it hard to get as excited about this massive opportunity as others here. Do we know the ROI?
Didn't the club send out tens of thousands of flyers to local residents prior to the season kicking off? I'd like to know what kind of response that got (I fancy it's not in the tens of thousands).
That said, a small army of volunteers could have spread the word with a little help from the club. An army of one I fear Karlos!

1 fan, 500 fans? We'll never know. I'd just be more impressed by a poster here seeing these things coming, rather than waiting until it passes and loading another dreary "I told you so" missile in the agenda-heavy sh*t sling.

Yep, that's word for word what I wrote, Pal. Awesome summarising.
Are employees of the club not entitled to a day off? Are you gonna pay overtime costs? And the 'marketing' materials? You got those covered?
I've no idea if organising a marketing event to an unknown number of car boot shoppers is worth the outlay. Neither have you.
Quote: Jibmeister "And people have suggested this to the club and people have also volunteered to help. The club still haven't done a thing. But hey, it's the fans' fault.'"
So far I've counted one person claiming they've done that. Hardly a call to arms is it?

Not as far as I'm aware? Did they? Tens of thousands? What a 100,000, 200,000 half a million?

Why not?

Quote: The Black Cat "Why not?'"
I guess mostly because every flyer handed to me and my car windscreen tends to go into a bin, unread.
Secondly because, as above, the club have done mass mail outs in the past, to little avail (I presume. They may have been a huge success?)
But my speculating on non-take up is as much guesswork as those who think canvasing the car boot sale was a massive opportunity. With enough volunteers it's probably worth a punt. I'm not volunteering mind, I'm not that selfless.
