The club say we need 8,000 fans to survive at this new stadium. Does anyone know what the clubs plans are to hit this target because at moment with things going wrong at club it will never happen. The second thing concerning me is we can't it that target giving tickets out. We have now sold are main play maker why are fans going to want to come interested in following us when they see us selling off are best players. As anyone ever answered these questions at all to the forever reds if so please tell are supporters what is going on

I just think I managed to translate that.
Clubs lose players its a fact of life and to say he was our main playmaker is farcical.
We have never had big crowds even in the Glory Years and until the Salford public get off their ar$es and start supporting the only professional sports club in the city then we never will.

Agreed given he was going anyway after 4 more home games I can't see that affecting the 8,000 target - however it is concerning that we've got a better coaching set-up than we've had for years, we've seen (some!) much better rugby than in the last few seasons, we've moved into a shiny new stadium yet still there's no dramatic increase in numbers - certainly we'll have had a boost from away fans coming to see the new ground but will that continue

One aspect has been the weather - the only decent weather for a home fixture so far has been the day we played at the EmptyHead!! Now that one you can't blame on Simms!!

If there is a hardcore of half that number,4 thousand, the shortfall could be made up by that hardcore paying the equivalent about of cash, per month,of the missing spectators entrance fee.
There will be many who can only afford half that amount; just as there will be many who can afford double.
The scheme could be given an original title like - SOS - Supporters of Salford.Or,Signings of Supporters.
Or,Supporting of Salford.
I think it is called a generic term so it can be used for obtaining funds from general members of the public should they wish to donate at specific times;perhaps in time of trouble. a046.gif

All it would take is someone from the club to start the idea or better still,a request from the coaching staff.
(Banking details,of course )
Waiting for other people to do things usually means it never gets done.
If you don't ask you don't get.

Sometimes though, you can ask and still not get. eusa_think.gif

If supporters show willing, rich investors may do likewise.

Typical arrogance...only professional sports club... Swinton Lions are a professional Sports club perhaps you should qualify your statement to read full time professional club.

Hang on a minute lets get one thing straight. Blaming the people of Salford for the failings is nothing but pure narrow minded intelligence. How many times in the past 30 years have we been let down and embarrassed by this management and their constant fiasco's for god sake. Wilikinson's administration has undoubtedly held the club back for generations, keeping us afloat is the bare minimum. I believe the City of Salford has a great opportunistic catchment area to thrive in superleague with the right businessman at the wheel but the current owners have steered the clubs nose that far deep into the shlt they've blown it, and yet they still arise smelling of roses for the easily pleased.

I agree with PR! There is a general apathy to watching Salford City reds. I also agree the Salford board have not tried to market the club in any shape or form, however this season in a brand new stadium we have entertained & played a style of rugby worth watching but still have no takers unless we give the free loaders a ticket.
We really must stop kidding ourselves the increased gates have more to do with away fans than the Salford paying public.

The people who are keeping Swinton going deserve a lot of credit, but does that put "Leigh in Salford" ?

The Chairman and the current board have put more into the club than you have that I am sure of.

To keep the club going with supporters such as yourself has been miracle, how many freebies have you had?

The club could have made better judgements/decisions over 30 years which club has always made the right ones?

I am not embarrassed at being a Salford supporter, I am embarrassed at the antics/ comments of some supporters though, when did the chairman run over your foot or terminate your employment?

It's common for fans to have a go at the people who bail out rugby clubs. It's as thought fans feel that the club they support should have unfettered access to the private income of the owners.

Agreed-and the fans who want the unfettered access to the owners funds put in very little money themselves and complain if they get a freebie and don't get a free drink with it.

As a Cas fan we of course played Salford at the beginning of the season. Our directors took the opportunity to speak with your directors during the game so that we could gain a better understanding of the required business model to sustain a new stadium. Ourselves at Cas, need 8500 per home game to reach a break even position and this is on a ground that we own and have minimal overheads. The business model presented to our directors was that for us to run a stadium like that of Salford's, we would need to average approx 10k to 10.5k per home game to break even.

The financial hole could be bigger than you expect and I would keep my ear to the ground if I was you. Otherwise as one fan to another best of luck!

Surely though if you own the ground the overheads are much greater.
Upkeep and maintenance.
Paying staff to run the place.
Utilities.
And God knows what else.

Where as we pay a rent and the stadium management company take care of that.
