| The team playing from Old Trafford last night looked not only a cut above but a couple of them could have stayed on the pitch and made a better fist of things than the first team players in the second half. The number 13 looked to have no little class, the prop was just a huge unit and the young kid playing in 5 but who was hooking looked more capable than Howarth last night. All of them seemed to have pace to burn and think even a layman could see the potential.
I'd be very dissapointed if the club aren't looking at getting a fair few of the kids on show last night down to the club to look at them with a view to giving them a chance.

| Yeah I have to agree . Many people commented on the team in black and yellow highlighting. They had some potentially good players there. It'd be interesting to see if the club try and get hold of them early on. But being Salford they'll do nothing and Wigan will instead.

| You only had to look as the fitness levels of the kids playing in black compared to the kids in yellow to see that they took there sport seriously and I'd be willing to bet that with very little effort from the club you'd make fans for life and also if we're lucky there is great potential.
The club (they might already) first thing Monday morning should be on the phone to whichever school that was offering to send someone when they are training, take some tickets to get them along again and make sure that if they want to play at a different level Salford are the team they call their team.
I'd be willing to bet that if anyone from Saints saw them at half time they will be thinking of doing the exact same thing.

| Sure I read that the PE teacher from the team (St.Peters) was the father of Andrew Dixon who is in the Saints squad, and Salford are looking at signing?
They looked really useful! They have only been playing for 10 months, and are finalists at the Carnegie schools during Challenge cup weekend.

| I do believe that one of the teams is from Manchester and are unbeaten. The MEN also reported that your lot had already had contact with the school concerned.

Good work from the club getting them down to a game. Weve had Stretford High School down to The Willows before but its not often we see schools from outside the cities boundary involved on a matchday.

| Excellent news that, tell you what if they've only been playing for 10 months there are some seriously talented kids at that school.

While I noticed some talented males I think it fair to mention the females who assembled in the stadium at half-time especially the girls who went onto the field for a dance routine while the wind swirled and the rain poured.
Fantastic example of disciplined teamwork and a joie de vivre I certainly didn't expect.
I hope they are allowed the opportunity to return should the weather forecast be suitable.
(Well done to those who ushered them around the stadium etc.they all seemed in great spirits)

| I visited St Peter's in Longsight (the team in black, and the girls teams walking round) on work business a few months back and it was pleasing to see that on their big video wall in reception one of the images that was on rotation was a photo of their girls team with the Carnegie Schools trophy at the Stoop, and there was also a signed Salford shirt in a frame just past the main entrance.

| Their girl’s team who won the Carnegie Schools trophy formed part of the cheerleading troupe on Friday night, they are coached by Ceris Dixon in Rugby and cheerleading (the daughter of Jim Dixon- Deputy Headmaster, sister of Andrew) she is a P.E. teacher at St Peters.
St Peters part funds a Rugby Development officer along with Salford, his role is to promote Rugby League in the Junior/Senior Schools in Manchester. The staff at Salford work closely with St Peters and have a very good working relationship. Hopefully this will lead to Salford have a wider talent pool to select from in the future.
I know that the staff and kids were very appreciative of the warm response they received from the Salford fans.

| My wife used to teach at St.Peter's, she was really pleased when I told her of their RL success and their appearance at Salford on Friday night. They certainly look a talented bunch but I wonder if any of them play for any amateur clubs, I don't know of any clubs in or near the Gorton/Levenshulme area. That's always going to be a problem I think as once they've left school they might have to travel a fair way just to find a RL team to play for and that's when RU steps in and fills the gap and we lose them to our game.

| I'm particularly pleased as I used to work in an office that overlooks the astroturf hockey pitch that the school uses for sport, and when I was there we'd see the kids being coached in forming rucks and mauls on a regular basis (and looking bored). Nice to see they've moved across to the skilful form of rugby.
