| Looks like details for the charity walk organised by the salford foundation has been released, by the sound of it will be a good day and £25 sponsorship to qualify is good ad its not too high of an amount.
And a friend between the under 18 v under 20 promises to be a good game as both did well last year, anyone else attending?

| Will be seeing how many Bury Broncos want to do it...
The foundation does a lot of good work so well worth making a contribution to.

| So if you don't manage to get on you miss the first game at the new stadium, bit garbage. I know its only a friendly between our youth teams but still.

| Although I agree its a good cause to raise money for. I dont think its right to put this limit of £25 a person sponsorship to get a look inside the new stadium. That means me and her indoors have to raise £50 to get a look inside. [ and that aint gonna happen in this financial climate ]They should just throw the gates open and promote the place to the general public. We wont be buying our season tickets untill weve had a look inside and decide where we want to sit/stand.

| So you do a "charity" walk to the new stadium watch a crappy game ( sorry, but it'll be freezing cold and crappy) you get a souvenir bag. Then when at the stadium don't even get a free hot drink or anything you have to buy it all from the new food outlets!!!!
This sounds like a very expensive day just so you can be the first in the stadium, as getting people to sponsor for a non charity cause will be nigh on impossible.

| The last two posters have got it bang on.
Why not make it optional to raise money or not?
Promote the first ever look at the stadium with free entry. There will be a game to watch and give out free hot vimtos.
This means that people who can't/don't want to walk can drive there and have a look. This can only boost season ticket sales.
I think the club is missing the very first opportunity to promote the stadium.

The foundation is a registered charity look

And by all accounts they do a good job in the community, unfortunately we arnt warrington so it doesn't get the highlighting it deserves in our local media.
If your that bothered do it for a "proper charity" and the foundation, then the foundation get the £25 u need to qualify and you can give the rest to who ever you want.
As for it being £25 I recon thats what its going to cost to get in to pay on the gate and be glad its not £50pp which it could have been.

QED.
As someone else has said think the club is missing a trick in regaurds letting people have a look inside to see where they fancy sitting, it's OK having CGI images and all but actually being stood inside the ground to have a look would I'm sure help many people and also sway some fans who might be tempted back out of the 10,000 from the final game. You'd actually think that the council would throw the doors open to promote the new venue.

| The Foundation does a lot of good work in Salford and is one of the best ways the ‘Salford City Reds’ brand gets out to people, especially youngsters.
As someone said above raising money is pretty hard in this climate – that’s true for the Foundation!!!
So an effort is being made incentivising people to help raise monies so the Foundation can carry on doing that good work – it’s innovative, provides a means by which fans can help raise some money for the foundation, and with that a chance to see the new ground.
If people want to drive there, pay to go in etc. – the option is there on the day of Wigan friendly.
The negativity of Salford fans astounds me at times – here’s the club doing something positive, and it’s knocked. If the foundation was wound up, and there was no community work – there’d be an outcry on here.
Maybe 'opening the doors for free' is worthwhile at some point - but here is the chance to support the clubs community work which you'd think, as Salford fans, we'd be for the OPTION of doing.

Dude do you really think that non salfordians with no interest in rugby are going to give me money so that I can walk to a stadium to watch a game of rugby and get a goody bag? Get in the real world dude!!
Most people will be in the same boat. For me Jo and the 2 kids we can luckily get to only pay £50 as a family option. I'll tell you know there's no way people will give me that much. I'm already doing Movember for much worthier causes. So I would have to pay £50 PLUS drinks food etc... when in the stadium. whilst listening to the kids moaning about the cold, the walk, the crap rugby etc etc etc.... And we'll not even talk about the pain in the ass it's going to be to leaving cars at both the willows and new stadium so we can get home.
And also to alienate people who don't participate in the walk is complete e. JW promised many moons ago the there would be an open style day for supporters to go and see the stadium prior to games starting. He said nothing of us having to pay for the privilege.

| As much as I like the idea of this... and I'd love to be at the first ever game in the new stadium... I won't be doing this.
When I left The Willows on the final game, I vowed not to return. It was emotional enough that day... and I can't bring myself to go through that again by visiting the old girl. I said my good-bye's... I can't do it again.

It's nothing to do with negativity Mike. I'm sure the foundation does do good things Mike and I'm not saying it doesn't. However to say that you have to pay a minimum amount is a joke. It alienates so many people who would love to be there for the first time.
There's a 1000 places going which would total £25,000. Thats if 1000 people can either get £25 sponsor ship or pay it themselves. If your single it's fine I'd pay it out of my own pocket. But for a family It's a minimum of £50 then you have food to pay for at the stadium. So lets say £100 in total for the privilege. That's a fecking ripoff. Especially coming up to Christmas and new season tickets and all the expense involved with that.
A minimum of £10 for adult and £5 for kids would be much more realistic plus any extra that people can then try and raise if they wish to.
