| I'm sure that, like many, I went onto the pitch to take a small trowel piece of the turf to remember over 4 decades of support. I held off when (Sir ) John said there would be a day this weekend to obtain / buy mementoes.
However the ground is being used this Sunday and again in October (the latter for a football game).
So when can we attend to do as he suggested?
Can someone on ForeverReds (who have the ears of the gods) find out?

| H.R. I know there is "its a knockout" on this w/end for J.Ws charity, The Salfordian, & there is a charity fundraiser in October for a little boy, that is what John was asking supporters to be patient for any momento's until they have taken place, but it appeared to fall on deaf ears !!!!
Some were taking stuff, but alas not for momento's but to just smash up & leave strewn around the pitch I couldnt believe what I was seeing.

| There were a number of obvious reasons why I was feeling sad at the end of the game. One of the saddest was watching young kids tearing apart advertising hoardings and smashing them up. As and when the Willows is reduced to rubble, I for one don't want to be there when it happens. These kids and their parents are a disgrace.

| I couldn't agree with the above posts more!
As a fan of over 25 years, yesterday for me and my family and friends was all about saying goodbye to a place where we, and thousands of others, have shared in the same good and bad times.
Whilst yesterday's performance, like sadly too many before, was largely forgettable, what wasn't were some of the scenes after the full time hooter.
I can't bear the thought of the ground not being there, and I have no intention of visiting the housing estate that will be built on it.
And it was heartbreaking to see the wanton vandalism taking place yesterday. To see kids and even grown adults walking around with random pieces of adverising hoardings was not a pretty sight, and one which I will try to dispel from my memories of the great old ground. Along with topless halfwits dancing on top of the tunnel, having to be told off by the chairman like naughty schoolboys

| I agree with you red tide i was a little angry that after being told not to go on the pitch and john wilko saying there will be a memento day. They all still go on and WRECK the place. I had a look at some pics after everyone left and advertising boards just left on the pitch i felt so ashamed SO WELL DONE TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED

| Anyone have any idea what's going on with the turf memento that season ticket holders had the option of at the beginning of the season?

I took my wife and eldest step daughter and four year old son to Sundays game and every one of us enjoyed every minute of it, except obviously the result and performance, but when we saw the gates open so we could go on the pitch, we did!!!
Just to mention as well, I did witness stewards "allowing" advertising hoardings to be pulled and ripped from the sides, and walking around with them, with nothing said, whos to blame???

| From what I saw, I think some people are being a tad hysterical. I don't know the extent of what was nicked but it looked to me as if it was nothing of real value. It's certainly naive to think this kind of thing wasn't going to happen. I actually thought we'd see masses of turf coming up, so it could have been much worse.

I agree. You would think it was Salford riots part 2 the way some people are going on.

| When I went to the final game at Oldham, I saw spades being carried in for the post-match turfing.
My query remains ... do I go this Sunday to see if I can purchase (?) a memento or do I leave it and put Wilkinson's comments down to post-final match emotion. It means a journey from Rochdale and so has to be planned.
Re turf option I did not opt for the turf as I wanted a shirt so I had all three shirts used in our final season. However I would really like a tiny bit of where I have wept blood since ... a hell of a long time ago.

I may be wrong, but I thought I heard that there was still a charity football match to come - so they'll need the pitch for that.

My recollection of what the Chairman said was that any fans who would like to select any items that the club feels they could have then the club has to be contacted and that is what I intend to do.
I have selected the turf option and I eagerly await a call from the club, there is a space ready and waiting at home.

| I imagine the scoreboard would look pretty good in my front garden.
It would permanently display:
Salford 26
Wigan. 16
Happy days
