| According to RL express Wrigley has applied but isn't necessarily a shoe-in.However what drives me nuts is the Club will be happy if they have someone in post by the end of the month.A month!!!-surely even an Aussie could be appointed before then and get a Visa through in a month. He could at least be watching vids of the players then.

| He could get the job and not get the Visa... McGuire at Wigan was in the same boat and got his Visa due to certain circumstances... those may not apply to Wrigley.
If it takes a month then so be it.... we have a max of 4 games in May... assuming we beat Hunslet and get a good draw in the next round... all the games are winnable and well within our sights... So I'm OK to wait a month for the right guy.
However... I'm not sure Wrigley is first choice... but he is definitely up there.

| Has anybody considered, the club may already have been arranging Visa(s) and will take this into consideration before appointing a coach. Let's face it, maybe, just maybe, the appointment of a new coach has been going on behind the scenes for a while. McRae's, effectively, been gone for two plus months now. It could be they've found their man and acted quickly to get rid off McRae.

| I'd be very happy if the club did something right for once. Take the required time to get the right person and not just a knee jerk appointment. As has been said before I doubt if it were to be Lam that he would have any issues with a visa as he if I recall has an English parent?.

"Michigan Red"! You took the words right out of my mouth! I said before on another thread, the important thing is we find the right coach & if that takes the rest of the season to put in place that will be fine with me. Lets not put pressure on the club, they already know how important it is to get this one right.

| [sizeI've edited the title of this thread. Can we keep all discussion, rumours and opinions on the recruitment of a new coach into this thread rather than have about 10 different threads on the go?[/size

| I think the club has come in for a lot of criticism in recent weeks and I'm not sure it's justified. I'm not saying that things have been perfect off the field but in the circumstances the powers that be have handled themselves pretty well it seems to me.
The Chief Coach goes off on long term sick. It seems that the club negotiates an agreement with him to allow for another appointment. This can't happen overnight.
An Assistant Coach is in dispute with the club. All statements follow employment procedure protocol and no silly statements of any sort are made whilst attempts are made formally to resolve the issue. This too won't be resolved overnight.
The current staff seem to be doing everything to keep the players focused on their rugby. As we know only to well there have been ups and downs whilst they tried to do this with the Warrington and Huddersfield games massive disappointments.
But the club does need to resolve the Coaching position quickly I think. I have enough faith in the powers that be to think that they are trying to sort out the coaching job currently and would lay money that they have been trying to do that for some time.
I just hope the new coach has got vision, awareness and the strength enough to be his own man. I also hope that he will be allowed to bring with him his own assistant if we do have a vacancy in the future as the idea of a coaching team seems crucial.
I do not want a man who smacks of being yesterday's man with a lengthy track record from years ago, but hope that we can appoint a dynamic, determined and innovative coach who can organise the current squad defensively and motivate them to play for him. Our attack does seem to be functioning well most of the time and anyone watching videos of our performances must know what we have to do to improve.
I hope we make the right decision - and pretty quickly too!

If he wants to be is own man,he's no chance of getting the job.

| sorry but I am not stuffing
Both would not rip up and relace the malaise we have been so concerned with for so long. They really are icing on cake coaches: excellent with the team but not good preparing the future.
We've had 4/5 such coaches - let's be ambitious.

| Lam for me.
Young, ambitious with new ideas exactly what we need.
Dont think he would come, but you dont know until you try do you.
Kurt Wrigley is at Souths where McRae came from which is enough to put anyone off
