| I left the stadium tonight like a man with a weight lifted, the first time in a long time I've been proud to call myself a Salford supporter!
What a fight! Finally a game (against nearly a full strength Wigan side no less) that saw us stand toe to toe with the opposition and nearly match them in (nearly) every department.
Feka - Awesome, no less. I'm absolutely speechless at how he's turned him self around, I'm sure allot of that is down to the fact Parish wanted rid, but if that's what its taken....
Adamson - His best performance in a Salford shirt to date. Strong yard's, better lines, good linkage, and stopped a try late in the second half with his quick turn of pace to the corner flag forcing Charnley back inside, into a tackle.
Smith - One of his best kicking games Ive seen, the same kicking game which saw him impress Saints, but one that turned and split Wigan more times than I can remember.
I could say something positive about every player but I really feel the lad's can take allot of pride and confidence out of that to build on for there first competitive fixture. I'm sure Sean Long had allot to do with the performance and has taken certain area's of our game by the scruff of the neck (since our performance against Leigh) ensuring were at least competitive and improving as shown tonight.
The atmosphere was the first glimpse of what we can expect if we continue to be competitive and were are only going to attract more new fan's if we can maintain that sort of performance.
The only negative I have is the 20 minute wait to move 5 Yds out in the car park, I was speaking to a "traffic attendant" as I waited who informs me the club was trying a different tactic tonight before the season kicks off, which was to close the "dirt track" and drive ALL traffic back out of the main entrance. This in turn allowed ingress to flood through the car park through lines of traffic, not the done thing..apparently. The plan failed miserably and resulted in the only dampener on the night not taking into consideration Silverwood's blatant failure of concealing his desire to get Wigan out of their half...oh how I strive for perfection.

You were not at the game (and according to you will not be attending any future games) so therefore can not comment on our performance..simple
Why you continue to post the garbage you do when me an everyone else continually points out how wrong you are is beyond me, you don't support Salford and you won't be attending any future games so why bother coming on here to post your dismissible, miserable, unsupportive tripe.
Here's a snippet from tomorrows media, People who actually attended the game and KNOW what there talking about.
"It was the Reds who will go home the happier of the two and looking more than capable of starting the season with a win over Castleford Tigers on 4 February"
Unfortunately for you, you'll not be there to witness it, however I look forward to reading more of your garbage soon after.

Totally agree - the backs looked sharper and were running onto the ball but we still need to get deeper and some of the forwards need to be pi$$ed off when we are in opponents half - one drive is too many for me and with our side we now need to see wing to wing running rugby.
Lets build on this.

Ha Ha Ha you answer all the time to my observational facts that eat you up inside
Duuuuurh obviously.Wigan played badly and WON away from home flopping 13 good chances to score, Salford on the other hand played well for once at home and we still lost, we all know consistency isn't our forte history proves that so can salford keep that tempo up because that's what is required in this League ?. However i believe salford will beat castleford on feb 4th (when i choose to [sizewitness[/size it on the box ) due to their injuries in the pack and us having home advantage.

Big Feka bashes his way through the line right at the death to finish it up Salford 10 Wigan 16. Decent stuff and Salford lots of positives.

| What encouraged me me was the limiting effect we had on the Wigan attack, we didn't seem to stand and watch Tomkins in awe as seems to be the trend and best for me was that we won more collisions tonight than we did all last seqason - the sheer amount of times the Wigan attacked ended up on thier back shows what can be done when the correct training and tactics are employed.
I'd say the fairest result tonight would have been a draw, without question if you'd have taken Tomkins out of the Wigan team we'd have won.

| It was much better tonight, and there was certainly a good team spirit and some stand out performances.
A performance like that would beat some of the teams you would expect to be around us in the league, and we may catch a big team on a off day.
As will all Salford performances, if we take into account we have a set of average players, and those players give their all, I will go home happy.

| Both sides poor for me with Salford making rafts of unforced handling errors that let us off the hook after we'd made some of our own. I can't honestly see how either sides fans could be overly pleased with it but then it is pre season and the game was a typical error strewn affair.
As for your best players Matty Smith's kicking game kept pinning us back and he looks like he could have a big year and it was great to see Feka slimmed down and looking fit. He was a similar size for us in 2010 but he never seemed to get enough minutes to show what his new found fitness could do.

| I could see two of your forwards who didn't look like they were giving "their all" to me and it's not the first time I have seen it. Salfords performance last night was 100% better than when you played us the two weeks ago but as I have posted before you need two big agressive forwards to give you that edge and the whole team needs to show a bit of agression. I slated Holdsworth and Smith when you played us but last night they were up for it and it showed. Smithy was barking and running up and down the line. Better, much much better.

| Very encouraged by what I saw last night. Our forwards punched well above their weight, and that is something that has got to happen a lot in the coming months.
Sam Tomkins was the difference between the two sides on the night. Both teams made mistakes and the ball was put down a lot, but there were some impressive performances from the green jerseys. How old is Ben Gledhill? He looked like a man on a mission. He ran hard and straight. More of the same please. Feka looks a new man and his try was thoroughly deserved.
We do rely a lot on the Smith, Holdsworth, Patten triangle, and I would like to see our wingers get more of the ball. Joel Moon looked good, particularly in the first half.
But, many reasons to be cheerful. We won't be playing teams as good as Wigan every week. Well done lads.

| I was impressed by our defence, just need to keep up to and improve on it as the season goes on. however we let the Wigan acting half back to much room around the PTB.
very impressed with Ben Gledhill
If we can attack like wigan did with sweeping back attacks, which worried us every time but good scrambled defence saved us
Overall very pleased with our performance ( thought we were going to get thumped 50-0)

| Really pleased with the performance last night. I wasn't expecting a close result before the game if im honest, but now im riding on the wave of optimism for the new season.
It finally looks like our team is finally getting some fluidity with the backs and forwards being on a similar wavelength.
Feka playing well is brillinat to see, we missed some of his bulldozing runs last season, and we need someone to get the yardage in now Cashmere has gone.
I've been impressed by Moon also and think he has settled in really well recently.
Our good perfromances over the last two games, when put against Castlefords hammering by Wakefield the other day, leads me into our opening game with huge hopes for a win...
I've even managed to talk family members who have never been to a rugby game, yet alone a Salford game into going to Barton to watch the opening game.
COME ON SALFORD!
