Does anyone know anything about Shaun pre 1996? He just seemed to appear at Saints with no reference to any former clubs. I've never been able to find out who he coached before or if he played and if so for who and what position?
Anyone got any information?

A former schoolteacher, McRae is married to a St Helens girl, Tina, and was enticed to this country by then Knowsley Road chief executive David Howes in 1996 after being the fitness conditioner at Canberra.

Wasn't he involved with the Australia coaching set up? I'm sure I remember seeing a photo of him with possibly the 1994 Kangaroos. |

McRae also holds the unique distinction of being the only coach to work on the backroom staff of the three major rugby league-playing nations - Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain - and was the only man to hold the position of head coach throughout the first nine years of Super League.

Congrats McRae. I dont' agree with every dessision you make but you don't get to coach 400 games in SL by always making the wrong dessions. Respect.

so fitness conditioner at Canberra to head coach of Saints. Seems quite a jump - makes you wonder why Saints decided to take such a punt on him. No playing pedigree to speak of either. That must be pretty rare in the current game.
