| Struggling to fault that performance in the context of the season - best performance I have seen from a Salford side against a top four side in some time. The telling difference was the 10% that teams like Leeds manage to get right. A prime example being the moment when Rob Burrow cut off Greg Johnson when he was open half way through the second half - when we were faced with those situations we let Leeds through. Also looked like we were a little shy of fitness around the 50 minute mark, perhaps indicative of poor pre-season prep.
Signs are very encouraging though and if we turn that performance in for the last four games I feel we'll make that eighth spot. For next season we need to put a Plan B in place for when teams come up fast out wide to cut us spreading the ball. We seemed to be a little devoid of ideas in our short play at times.
Evalds, Walne and Fages - superb contributions.

| I think you're being kind. The telling difference was Silverwood.

| Great match, Salford have really come on leaps and bounds. If anything it does indicate that they couldn't run through Leeds and need a couple of props who can get them over the gain line and win the collisions against the top top teams.

| Thought it was a great game, and even though we lost I don't feel particularly downhearted. Both teams played well and all the tries were never contentious. Like DR said, we lacked that little extra percent at crucial times, something that Leeds are masters at. No complaints really, except Leeds last try was a little soft as we turned into the old Salford. Another quality go-forward Prop may have been telling for us, but can't fault any players for their effort tonight.
Stand-out for me were Fages and Walne. Some great contributions from Hansen and Rapira put a lot of work in. Both wingers never shied away from the hard drives. Hopefully their confidence wont take too much of a knock as the performance was pretty good.
Fair play to Leeds, who also played their part in a good game.

| Yep get some front rows signings as impressive as your recent backs and you'll make a big jump.
Perhaps debatable on here but I still think Chase is bit out of sink with his teammates to be a halve to lead his side to success?

| Great attitude from the players, and I think that Leeds showed us some respect by opting for the kick at the penalty. Never any point at all blaming the referee, as we have no control over his decisions. What we can control:
Kicking out on the full from the kick off
Dropping a high ball in our own 20
Giving away penalty on the 5th tackle - twice
Get those things right and it doesn't matter what the ref does, we win that game.
We have a confidence about us that makes us a good side to watch at the moment, and once again credit to the players and go coaching staff. Keep going about your business quietly Mr Harris, I'm getting value for money and I love it!

| Great game from both sides , maybe the 4 day turnaround had an affect on us , what happened to Lama Tasi ? one thing that left me vexed tonight was MCB in the build up to Watkins try , why did he try to push him in to touch instead of just tackling him ??

| Only regret from tonight was Johnson not backing himself to take on Ablett & Hall when he received the ball on the 30 with 5 mins to go.
That guy has pace, but did not have the confidence to use it at the crucial time!
Other than that, solid performance. Conceding 22 points is no disgrace against a team like Leeds.
IMHO Wigan will beat us away, but after that we have 4 winnable games, if we have aspirations of the play-offs.

The Tasi bit did cross my mind, but MCB is still young and will learn.
Other than Hardaker's try, the rest were all pretty soft, and you'd have to question what might have been if we hadn't given away penalties on the fifth tackle and Griffin hadn't tackled the catcher in the air.

| Fantastic match between TWO good sides. Not been able to say those words after a fixture against Leeds in as long as I can remember.
If we keep improving like this, plus adding BJB, a prop and a hooker we will be a match for anyone next year.
I thought the younger players were outstanding tonight (Walne and Theo in particular) but what is most impressive is the progression of the team as a unit. The effort shown in defence was awesome and completely different to the noble era.
Also - no point blaming the ref. We had chances to win but that's how it goes sometimes. Its not a big conspiracy with all the refs favouring the big clubs. The only person who is definitely against us is Eddie Hemmings...

| Classic play by McGuire. The knees first Big Daddy splash on young Theo as he scored his try, of course.

| Watching it back now.
Still convinced the pass to Fages for the disallowed try wasn't forward, even rewound it three times!
Not got up to the suspected Leeds forward pass yet but thought it was fine and was just a flat pass when I saw it on the big screen in the ground.

| I thought the pass to Fages was forward, but I also think the Leeds one was borderline. It certainly moved forward in relation to the ground, but that's not important if it is back in relation to the players (Stevo talks about the momentum rule. There is no such named rule. It is annoying, however, when he he refers to "the ball drifting forward". It doesn't matter where it drifts, it is the direction in which it is passed that's important.)
We were unlucky to have played so well and still come away with no points. However, I would make two observations:
Mozza did too many minutes because, basically, we only had two, nailed on props. The replacements, including Jordan Walne, who scored a great try, were back rowers. Apparently Tasi was poorly.
Secondly, we potentially wasted an opportunity by playing Locke. He is clearly not fit and was a waste of a replacement, forcing Tompkins to do more than appropriate and disrupting the plan. Evalds to start and Owen as replacement would have made more sense.
Or was MK too impatient to show off his new big name? If so, it may have cost him the game.
