| Considering Smith's disappointing form would you drop him for today's game at Leeds or stick by him in the hope he improves?

| Don't get me wrong as I haven't been impressed either but why single out one player when there are several who you could ask the same question about? Tim smith = the new Luke Dorn

Even better that we've chosen to make this year's scapegoat to be a man who suffers from bi-polar disorder and who in 2008 had to take an extended break from the game. A break that was attributed to him struggling to cope with criticism that was constantly levelled at him.
Given this, the negative chants aimed at him and booing of him will surely serve to give him the kick up the backside he needs.

He was a big name signing we paid a big transfer fee for and with that comes certain expectations. I sympathise with his medical condition but I don't think that should make a player immune from opinion or judgement. I judge him solely as a Salford player wearing a Salford jersey and nothing more. And for the record also don't condone any verbal abuse towards any player.

| His previous medical conditions should have no bearing on fans discussing his performance on a supporters message board, chants and boos are a disgrace though.

| Sold by a club he was settled playing for to settle cash flow issues,
Keeping a academy favourite out of the team.
Last seasons half back pulling up tree's at his DR club
The coach who signed him and who originally brought across from Aus no longer in charge...
I just cannot fathom why he's not settled and playing his best game....

Keep finding those excuses Middleman if it makes life more bearable for you as a long suffering Salford supporter.

So Smith was on fire then before Noble left 2 weeks ago was he? Fages is irrelevant the kid has been switched to interchange hooker under Noble and left out under Harris so he's not been threatening Smiths place in the team.
Please remember that Smith is a senior professional and top quality players overcome issues when the take the field. As for being settled at Wakefield, I don't he was too bothered about that last year when he was signing a bigger contract. Also why would he be unsettled under Harris, surely by being selected in both games so far shows the coach has confidence in him.

| I think this poll demonstrates an unfortunate problem with an "open" forum. It is all well & good to express an opinion but when that opinion attempts to remove a player from the team then it is wrong.
Tim Smith is a good player.
He has not performed at the level expected of him.
Tim Smith will know that more than anyone.
A lack of confidence affects performance.
Criticism in a poll with undermine confidence.
It will be harder for Tim Smith to perform at the level expected.
A coach is employed to pick the team - let him do it.
Perhaps a factor in all of this is Theo Fages, the fans favourite, who is not getting game time because of Tim Smith. Theo will get better but is currently Tim Smith, confidence permitting, is the best bet.

So it's wrong for a supporter to debate with other supporters on a fans forum if a player is playing well enough to be selected? Also do you honestly think Harris or any other coach would be swayed by supporters opinion's?

| just give him a chance. we all saw what type of player he is at wakey. he had a new coach and team to get to know, now he has a new coach to get to know again. gonna take a while. salford fans need to be prepared for this to take more than 1 season to "get right" and i mean the team, not 1 player.

It will take a minimum 3 years and a lot more investment before we will be anywhere close to challenging the top 4.
I personally hope smith can find the form he showed last year but sometimes being removed from a difficult situation for a period of time can actually help rather than hinder. If he's not right mentally give him a couple of weeks out of the spotlight rather than putting him in a situation he's finding difficult.
