I have only just joined this site so this is my first posting. I have been a Salford supporter for 40+ yrs. Now having spent the last couple of weeks trying to unravel the complicated membership system for the new season & having decided to purchase a so called season ticket,I now find that it is impossible for me to get to the ground.
The club at the present moment are not putting on any transport from the Willows area. I haven't got access to a car & I have researched all public transport. The No 10,67 & 100 buses timetables after 6pm weekdays & all day Sundays are only every hour & not compatable with match times.
The No 10 bus only goes to the Brookhouse Estate which is a 10-20 mins walk so returning from a Friday night match you would miss the last bus at 10.20pm unless you can run that is !!!!! Not good for an elderly woman travelling alone.
There is a more frequent No 100 which runs to the Trafford Centre but then I would have to get from there back to the Willows & the No 67 bus which passes the ground is practically non-existant.
So even though I did want to go to the new ground (reluctantly I might add) It seems that it is out of the question.
I have brought this to the attention of the Club & have pointed out that there are others with the same problem & the new pricing as well so I would be grateful if anyone knows of a solution please.

Going off what I heard at the Neighbourhood meeting on thursday a shuttle bus service from the Trafford Centre to the stadium site is being proposed, not sure wether thats of any use to you.There are no plans to increase the 67 or 100 bus services on match days. Hope this info is of use.

Thanks but the Trafford Centre is no use to anyone on the Willows side just as difficult only the 100 & 110 with limited times to get there & even more difficult to get back...

How many fans on here find themselves in the same situation? If there are a few, then it might be worth setting up a car share / minibus sharing thread as a sticky. I don't drive otherwise I'd happily help out, not sure how I'll be getting there as yet, probably public transport.

Another issue with proposed transport links to the ground: If the Port Salford / Trafford Centre line gets funding as expected, its possible we'll have a stop at the stadium. However, this line would branch off from the Eccles line just after Pomona and run alongside the Canal, as I understand it. Which means having to travel away from the ground and towards Manchester to catch that line for many Salford based residents, but further opportunities to expand our fanbase to a wider area. Omens aren't fantastic.

Hope you find a way to attend MargieH I'm sure the supporters will come up with a car share solution .

I'd have thought it would be ' profitable ' for a Salford/Weaste based taxi , minibus company to look at doing runs to Barton on match days , granted , not as cheap as public transport , especially for concessions , but certainly viable I would have thought , the actual distance isn't great , it's just not a ' normal ' route

Well it is no good looking at First Bus putting on extra services for Salford matches, as they don't bother when United are at home putting extra buses into Salford, but they do run extra buses on match days for Bolton games running from Swinton to Bolton. Next year bus services may be cut back further due to the government cuts, so a national policy once again hits our move to the new ground, might be worth the club putting on a coach or two from the Willows site and I recken that could be done for a fiver return at the most, but demand has to be there.
One last point I still feel that the ground should have been built at West One but thats a totally different story.

Doesn't the 100 go to the Traff and then on down towards Irlam?

The 3 people I'll be traveling to games with are in the same boat but we'll be meeting up in Eccles pre game and getting a cab there and back which should end up being cheaper than buses.

I think I read on a thread that one of the pubs down Liverpoo Road is putting on a minibus to and gfrom the game to get punters in, pretty certain though that there will be options for getting to the ground by the time the season kicks off.

I have been informed on the grape vine from a supposeably good source that at a meeting on Thurs evening that it was brought to the attention of the club that there were quite a lot of people who have will have difficulty getting to the ground because of the transport situation & the club have now agreed to lay on some form of transport from several locations around the willows area.
Whether this will happen I am not sure......WATCH THIS SPACE............
