the 19s have not been scrapped, at present they have no superleague fixtures but are appealing this in January and hope to be reinstated, if not they will play championship teams.

According to Mondays League Express, Salford and Catalans U19 places have been taken by Featherstone and Sheffield.

So should we get out of this mess would I be right in thinking this would have a knock on affect for the next franchise application. As we'd fail the bit about youth development?

I can't understand why SCR haven't entered into the U19s comp - a concept I have consistently considered to be short-sighted, penny pinching anyway. But I would have thought that they would have wished to stay in the Super League related competition, unless they have already decided that their future no longer lies in Super League.

However, the championship U20s rules, I am led to believe, allow 3 over age players to be used, thereby allowing game time for some younger lads who are training with first team, too old for u19s and not in Vievers' sights to play first team.
