| I work in Stockport and all the Sales union fans believe that they are leaving Stockport County ground and are going to share with Salford RL.
The football fans in Stockport can't wait and tell me it will be the end of Salford RL if they let it happen.
Anybody confirm this ground share scheme is happening???

| how would it be the end of salford? i bet without the income stockport got from lending their ground out they'd be in a lot worse position than they are now.

Course it would !!!
Firstly... It's not solely our decision to make.
Secondly... The Salford Council have a huge input into the say so of the stadium, so that's unlikely.
Thirdly... Whoever makes the profit in the new stadium would want 52 weeks a year use from the stadium... so it would be in their best interests to ensure there are 2 successful teams as far as revenue they can bring.

It's not Stockport's ground and Sale didn't move there as a groundshare. Sale bought Stockport County (and the ground) and moved the rugby team in, then sold the football team to the supporters trust, leaving the football team as tenants of the rugby team, playing on a shocking pitch.

Sharing a stadium with the most high profile sporting club in the world would be a massive coup for your club - you should even consider changing your name to Manchester City Reds to make sure it all ties in brand wise.

| We have no say on who plays in the ground at which we are renting time. I cannot prevent other peple using a hotel room when I am not renting it. We have to live with who is attracted to play at Barton.
The issue is with who demands most say on fixtures. This will affect the corporate financing and sponsorship of our games. I have been told that Sale are keen but want priority on fixtures. This means we would not be able to play Fridays Jan - Easter nor in late August - Oct (when we need the Fridays for the play-offs )

I for one hope this happens, I fail to see how having two teams playing give or take the same sport sharing a stadium wouldnt be good for both, let#s face it Sale are in a different league as far as promotion and advertising is concerned and I still think there are skills that both teams could share and adapt.
There is a distinct difference from Sale in that the stadium isont ownewd by them and they would be tennants the same as Salford and as Salford are the driving force team wise behond thebuild fail to see how they would be under any threat from Sale or the owners showing favouratism towards them.

Well I think you can safely say then that Sale will be staying in their old delapidating stadium in Stockport then for the forseeable future! Could you honestly imagine the local council allowing a team 'out of our city' coming in and calling all the shots? Lets remember that the council are helping to fund this stadium with the primary objective of securing the long term future of Salford City Reds in Superleague, whilst providing a facility for the community and getting a return on their investment when the retail is developed. If these demands are true then I think this is an absolute insult to our city and our club after ten years of frustration, investment and hard work with this new stadium.
Maybe if Sale were to change their name to Salford City Reds to promote our city like we have done for over 100 years, then I'd imagine the council may be a little more understanding to any ridiculous demands in the next century?
