Wonder if we're planning on using him in the Robbie Role, or will him and ratch be starting 6 and 7 with smith maybe being used as the second hooker? Either way I think we can safely say bye bye to young Ritchie now.

Can't say I expected us to move for him.

Raises some interesting questions about who will play 6 and 7. I really hope Ratchford doesn't spend another season getting shifted around because it really could come back to bite us if he gets fed up of not playing in his natural position.

I don't think that's going to be the case if I'm being honest, Smith isn't a patch a Ratchford IMO. Think he's capable of covering a few positions like Robbie though 6,7 and 9 so maybe he'll be being used in that role?

Can't see us moving for Tommy Lee either now smith has signed.

At least Jeremy Smith can pretend some of the abuse isn't aimed at him now anyway...

I think it is an excellent signing for you boys...

It's a loan deal which tells you that Saints aren't prepared to let him go and want to keep their claws in him.

He will be the perfect foil for Ratchford and I think you have a terrific halfback pairing there. We've seen him at Widnes and I think he could be excellent for you.

Can see Smith moving to Hooker now and Malc 2 nd row. Still need a back up though so hopefully there are plans ahead for that.
One year loan means that maybe Palfrey will be given more game time next year as we will obviously need a replacement at the end of the loan.

I'm a big Smith fan and personally think he should be back with us. I like him as a better foil for Pryce than Eastmond.

He's pretty good at all aspects of the game.

The article mentions that he will be playing alongside up and coming prospects such as Adamson and Ratchford. Not a mention of Myler. Do you think that means he's already gone?

Matty Smith was on loan at Widnes for second half of last season. You've got a good one there look after him or we'll have him back!!

Smart move this, he's a decent player and can play in positions we need to strengthen for next season. If we're looking to bring in lads of this quality and age for next year then I'm more than happy.

Looks like a great replacement for Robbie Paul.

I hear you're in the market for Jason Chan too. Not a huge name in SL yet (mainly cos he played for us) but in your more settled side I think you're gonna see wondrous things from him.
