| Ok, I'm gonna start off with a post from another topic.
Quote ="king of the shed"We're a small club with small finances and small crowds to match, I'm not sure who some of you think we are, we constantly punch above our weight and have done for many years,'"
Ok, the last game I saw us play was in the GF last year. I've since been travelling around Australia and NZ and trust me, it's not easy missing so many games even if I did decide that this year was to be a kind of developmental season in which finishing any higher than bottom place would be an achievement. I'm going to be attending the game on Friday and trust me, I'm thoroughly excited about it. But you know what, I'm really not looking forwards to standing in the shed with a lot of you. I keep hearing all this negative talk which has very little substance beyond rumour mongering.
Salford Rugby League has had such a positive influence on my life as I'm sure it has on many others. I smile at times when I remember the emotions both good and bad that we have all collectively been through.
It always seems to me that supporting this club is unlike supporting any other. You know what though, that's most probably because it is. KOTS comments sum this up perfectly. We do punch above our weight and that's why we love it. That's why we're so passionate about it. Eternally optimistic about the possibility of upsetting the apple carts and achieving more than we're expected to.
Sure, we all thought we'd have the stadium we've been promised and sure, we all thought we'd be a wealthier club marching up the table ending our never ending wait for glory. But, as of yet, we're not. So, why has our psyche changed so much. We used to buzz in the shed every week before the very inception of sparkly new stadium and during the very process itself. It was a pleasure to be there. So, on the basis we haven't got 1 yet we've quickly descended into the psyche of all the other bloody miserable fans in RL who are only happy when they're whinging. Something most of used to abode and use against against other fans when attempting to prove that despite our lack of success and small fan base we are still the most passionate bunch in the game.
I'm not suggesting that you all shouldn't be a little concerned about the way the club can appear to be heading but guys and girls, you can't do anything about the business side of things. It's largely out of your control.
The 1 part of the game that is in your complete control is supporting this team week in and week out like we always used to. A loyal bunch of nut cases who scream and shout their love for this club and it's team every time they run out onto the pitch. Great days. I'd personally love them back and will be ensuring that I go home with a sore throat on Friday and hopefully a lot of you will be doing the same.
So peeps. What d'ya think. Are we gonna carry on with this endless debate that ultimately counts for sod all or are we gonna do what we're good at and ressurect the passion that we all have for this club? For £17 I'm personally gonna select the 2nd and go home with a smile on my
face!

| I will be there on Friday - though not in the shed (kids can't see and I aint holding them up all night) - and we will go with a devil theme as opposed to the rest of you who all bottled it last week. Last week was flat as a pancake as niether side was very good so hopefully the players will pick up and play their socks off and give us something to shout about. A win gainst Saints to go with the Leeds win will do very nicely thank you.

That's the spirit.
The way I see it is that I have my health, the weathers good and I'm going to watch my beloved Salford RL play. Despite what Saints may do to us I'll be enjoying this 1 no matter what.

| I take your point about punching well above our weight for many years, but thats what salford RLFC is all about, nothing better than salford crashing over against somebody and going bannanas and looking towards the oppositon fans.
Personally i feel like im turning into one of the bitter fans who have the white flag half drawn ready and looking for someone to blame, i thought it'll never happen to me but i can feel the signs coming, perhaps i need somthing from the players to say they still care as much as i did.
I think on Friday the 17 picked will hopefully give that extra 10% as its a big team, they will need to push themselves to stay in the game for as long as possible weather that 10% will be enough depends on Saints reaily and their attitude .
That extra 10% they give friday would have won the game last week im sure of it but thats salford all over, big teams + big effort = Sometimes win if the opponents dont want it as bad.
Medium/small teams + Average effort = Lose games we should win.
Roll on Friday

| Positivity is great and has always been what being a Salford fan is all about. I agree that people are whinging, me included, but it can start to wear a bit thin when the same thing happens all the time.
I think what people have been so pi$$ed off about is the silence that has pervaded from the club, even though we all knew about the LSC funding problem long before anything was released from the club. Some more communication even if it was to say we'll make a statement sonn please be patient would have appeased many.
I disagree with what you say about not being able to do anything so we should just accept it. Did emily Pankhurst just accept that women had no right to vote? Did the world just accept that South Africa had a system called Apartheid. If we feel strongly about something then we should stand up and be counted. Let people know they can't treat us badly.
That is not to say that we should be anything other than steadfast in our support of the team. I will be there on Friday the same as always!!!

But what is that "somthing"? the club need to lift the fans at the moment imo, but the state the club are in both on and off the field i cant see that happening.
Normally its the playing side or the admin side of the club which is in disoray and one carries the other over the line which gives us fans somthing to sing and dance about but at the moment in my eyes its both.
We miss Trish badly imo, i have no way of proving this but she was annoying with her "shhh...shh...shh" in fans in the club and her lack of interest in fans but i feel she was the kind of person to drag the club off the canverse kicking and screaming and put us back in a position of strength.
I hope friday the fans are given the opportunity to get behind the players because there is a lot of frustration boiling up inside people at the moment all we need is a performance from the players and it will come rolling out big time.
COME ON SALFORD...RUN, TACKLE AND BE ACTIVE TILL YOUR BLOOD TURNS TO WATER AND WE'LL ROAR YOU HOME

OK then we are great , the stadium is definitely on its way,we are playing the most entertaining rugby I have seen for years everything in the garden is rosy.
That good enough
Of course I will shout and cheer the team till the bitter end.
However if we all come on here with red coloured spectacles on and think everything is fine then I am sorry the world and the forum would be a very boring place.
I reserve my right to moan

You do realise that 1) this message board only represents a small number of our support and 2) not everyone is daft enough to go dressed up in a devil theme on the suggestion of some complete stranger on an internet forum? Especially when that's not the main concern at the club at the moment and not something the club will be overtly bothered with...
As for Red Preacher's post... It just goes to show how you miss something when you're away from it. Give it until the end of the season and he'll be just as miserable as the rest of us.

Pardon me for breathing. Just trying to have a bit of fun and as others had eluded to the fact that they would join in on "devil night" I was just pointing out that I didn't see many. I wasn't daft. My little un had a good time and enjoyed dressing up. Maybe its not the clubs number one priority but it is our history and tradition and I don't think it should be swept aside. Personally I think something like this could only add to the atmosphere at the games so don't see it as being particularly daft. I also didn't do it simply at the suggestion of someone on here. I have a mind of my own. I also did it for the grand final last season.

| I'll be there in the shed TBH I cannot fathom out the place this season, it's been like a morgue one week then rockin' the next.
Admittedly we haven't seen Salford at their best this season at Home yet we have seen some exiting younger squad members cement their place in the first team , beat Warrington at Home and Hull, Huddersfield & Leeds away. We have I think 6 home games out of our remaining ten fixtures ( not including any potential play off games from out top 8 position )
so we should by rights be the typical 14th man out there supporting our team and giving the opposition some stick, Players always quote the Willows as a difficult place to play due to the atmosphere created by the home support , now it seems we're more well known for applauding the away team off the pitch ( especially when their own fans haven't bothered to turn up ).
All this talk of new stadiums & franchises has got us all giddy, the club haven't helped:- loading us with impressive future plans and 'just around the corner timescales ' in order to build up support has in fact backfired big-time , giving us unrealistic expectations, unnerving existing support and effectively ' killing' the feelgood atmosphere built up from last seasons NL1 run & franchise application success.
Team wise the dodgy florida trip and now the 'will he won't he 'Myler soap opera will be having an effect on team moral . no matter what has been said.
So it will be nice just to forget about all that S-H-1-T for the time being and just look forward to a simple game of RL ,lose me voice shouting for the red arrrrmy and wishing for a good ol' against all odds giant killing at the expense of our plastic scouser friends from up the east lancs.
Welcome Back

| GT must be quite anally retentive if he thinks dressing up in a devil outfit is daft. Is it not just as daft seeing thousands of grown adults all wearing the same strip as the team with names and numbers on the back like they're out there as part of the team...... but we do it all the same.
There are always people turn up to the cricket test matches dressed as batman and robin or naughty nurses etc. It adds to the atmosphere and makes people smile. I believe that was the original subject of this thread... putting a smile back on Reds faces.

It is just as daft as grown adults wearing replica shirts. You won't find me doing that, either.

The same people who turn up to the test matches with no interest in the cricket, just wanting everyone to look at them and get attention? Doesn't put a smile on my face. You can have a laugh, create a good atmosphere and enjoy yourself without dressing up like a tw*t.

Believe me, I'm "lightened up", I just think grown adults should act with a bit of dignity, that's all.
I should add, this just all purely my own personal opinion, you understand.

I used to think that when I was a teenager. Now that I am 53 my views are totally the opposite - I am all in favour of adults behaving frivolously (as long as it doesn't adversely affect others). Now where can I find a devil suit with ample room for a beer gut?
