| Sau's FB post recently suggests he's looking forward to next season at Salford. His comment:
'To my brothers thats leaving us I wish you and your family nothing but the best next year!'
Leaving us are the key words.
Just my thoughts.

| I just hope there isn't loads of changes next season as i think the last 3 seasons we bought 8-10 players.

I agree it doesn't help when you make too many signings. The squad is relatively young compared to most SL teams so I think there is plenty of potential for improvement. I'd obviously be looking at a replacement centre for Griffin, a decent young half back as extra cover, another big prop to replace Phil Joseph and a quality hooker to replace Tommy Lee. (Who's unfortunately always injured)
I think if we can keep hold of the key players in this squad and with a few decent additions we could go well again. My biggest worry is the longer term impact of losing a respected figurehead like Sheens. I'd just feel more confident if Ian Watson had someone with invaluable coaching experience/success working alongside him.

| much of the above I agree with (but with potentially two young interchange hookers and what's happening with Logan? I am confused about we needing another hooker)
but
"if Ian Watson had someone with invaluable coaching experience/success working alongside him"
Either he is a SL coach or he is not. We cannot keep adding a management/mentor link to him; it's time to let him show what he can do. Like all SL coaches have to.

I just feel we need at least one hooker with more real guile. It's such a key position for me.
As for Watto. I just think there is a lack of rugby experience within the administration side of the club now Sheen's has gone.

I've had a look at some of his highlights on a well known social media video site and he looks like a strong effective runner from dummy half. Looks like he's also capable of putting some big shots on in defence. Apparently he has the best tries-per-minutes ratio across all 3 divisions over the past two seasons. You can certainly see some potential in him.

| I think Watto has done a fantastic job.Points deduction.injuries to key players,Tim leaving when relegation looked certain. Then Koucash going to leave.I dont think any experienced coach could have coped with that.He kept the players together. Look how they respond when he goes on the touchline.Probaly more experienced after the ups and down this season than any other coach in S.L.

| I don't think we need to make many signings. The squad we have are good enough
to make the top 8 next year. A hooker, Shaun Lunt was brilliant on Saturday but I imagine a fair few club will be after him a couple of forwards are all we need.
Josh Griffin is a massive loss, we have Carney, Vidot to come back and Evalds aswell.
We don't need to splash the cash because we know it
doesnt work. Let's keep the faith with the current players.

You can't dispute how well he's done under the circumstances. My concern isn't with Ian Watson it's the lack of rugby knowledge and experiance above our coach at an administration level that concerns me. With Sheens leaving IW has lost a supportive ally, a constructive critic and an experianced ear. Success and failure can be down to very fine margins and cost cutting in this key area could come back to bite us on the ar$e.
