| Personally am not having the injuries as an excuse. Out squad has enough to beat that Leigh team no matter what.
So. What was the problem? Given this is the only realistic chance of silverware we have

| Obviously the injuries made a big difference but we lacked desire, invention, grit, determination and simple mistakes. The game was there for the taking. I am personally sick but I know we must man up and not let this drag us down.

| Take nothing away from Leigh, but for the best part of 30mins in that second half our forwards were completely dominant. Normally that would have been enough to win most games, but other than the Fages/Evalds link we failed to get our backs into the game in their half today. Full credit to Leigh though, for all our domination, they still had the confidence to fling the ball wide and do their best stretch our defence.
For all our not wanting to blame our injuries, we saw that without Dobson or Chase we have no one to control the game. No lack of effort, just a lack of guile.

So what's the issue? We have enough Class backs, why aren't they getting the ball?
Dare I mention... Why wasn't Locke in the squad (not saying he should be, just asking)

| Personally I think haris got it wrong after the injuries for me evalds should have gone six with Patterson at centre.
But lets not. take anything away from leigh they play some good rugby and were dar better with ball in hand today.

I think this is a great post.
Leigh's defence has been awesome for a while now and was again today, but your forwards were pushing us to our very limits. North Stand went very, very quite and everything. We could see the SL team getting on top.
But, you failed to capilatise and, admittedly, had no luck with injuries, esp' in the creative department.
Leigh play an open and almost daring game, which in the end has come up trumps in a very close encounter.
Well played, Salford - and quite unlucky in the end.
And what player Niall Evalds is. And still so young!!

I've seen your post on the VT, so you know full well Fages doesn't have the game management, yet. Before the game, I thought hood and fages should have shared the hooking duties, with Locke at stand off. Dependant on Locke's fitness of course.

You cannot be serious.
The team played its heart out.
They left nothing out there, gave their all.
Of course the injuries dictated the course of the game, plus the mistake by BJB which if it had gone to hand would've seen Caton Brown go clear.
Leigh played well so good luck to them
PS I would've loved Locke to be in the 17 but he has to either be in the 13 or not at all,and Evalds is the first choice

So are you saying we tried as hard today as we did against Wigan?

He didnt doesn't mean he shouldn't. Or at least someone in the 17 should

| Very impressed by Salford today and very impressed by the sporting comments on here but you can't really blame the result on injuries when Leigh had at least 6 first teamers out as well.
You played really well and the half back combination was something we have never come up against before. Such speed and skill it was a pleasure to watch.
We just seem to be on a really good roll at the moment and our team spirit is the best I have ever seen.
Good luck for the rest of the season, genuinely think you are top 4 contender.

| Nothing to do with heart today. We lost to a very impressive Leigh team but given a couple of key moments we'd have won the game. 2nd half we were on top until BJB's brain cart we just couldn't get the decisive score when we needed it. Fair play to Leigh tho they played some enterprising rugby and deserved to sneak the win.
The 2 injuries were huge tho... an already makeshift tem just couldn't cope with more square pegs in round holes and our kicking was pretty poor again. I'm gutted we lost but top 8 is our priority and it just wasn't to be this year. Oh and if fit Locke should've been in the 17. No disrespect to Godwin but he was WAY off match fitness and offered very little IMO.

| I felt we recovered well from the injury setbacks to be level at half time and then take the lead at the start of the second half. We then tried to batter Leigh into submission purely through our forwards rather than carrying on in the same style that got us in front. I know we had Dobson and Chase on the sidelines but the problem was our mindset rather than the execution. How ironic that after a period of not spreading the play once we then attempted to do it in our own 20.
I felt there was enough bravery shown from our players commitment but not from our tactics. It was refreshing to see Leighs approach. Fortune favoured the brave.
We've made progress in the last month and a cup run would have given us real momentum on and off the field. It never seems it's meant to be for our club

| I felt we had a good chance of a win today but was trying not to let myself get carried away! Think Leigh knew that playing 'safe' percentage rugby was never going to do the job against a top Super League side. Glad we stuck to our usual style of attacking from anywhere and throwing the ball around. We took a lot of risks and made a lot of errors but eventually we managed to just about cause enough problems for Salford and held onto our lead.
Good luck for the rest of the season, hopefully see you in Super League next year!

| I'll tell you what went wrong after the game,Ryan Brierley went to clap the Salford fans and some goons started throwing bottles at him.
