Thought Michael Dobson Had a good game he will get better with more game time

Rangi did a lot in the general play, besides his assists and spectacular dummy

Thought everyone had a good game

We seem to have major problem with our right side defence. In this game and against Catalans

Cant argue with majority of what you're saying.

Don't agree about Dobson though. Thought he was quiet. Didn't look fully match fit-yet.

Good to get the win, but we still can't manage to kill a game off. Jones Bishop running into touch and Tommy Lees drop goal attempt the two main examples.

Thought Dobson was good in defence but still lacking a bit in the attacking department. Will come good though with a few games under his belt.

Sad to see the South stand booing and chanting for Theo on the back of one penalty into touch from Dobson not making many yards. Poor atmosphere as well overall.

We all have opinions about who should be starting etc , but the booing of Michael Dobson was shameful.

BJB, sorry didn't look fit, pretty obvious he was lame for most of the game.

Dobson, his kicking in general play was good, but place kicking is just terrible, the sooner we ask the Sale coaches for help with this the better for me.

Morley, fair enough he is a RL legend but for me he runs the risk of ruining his reputation.

Sa'u, sorry just can't work out if he is just a powerhouse or if he is carrying more weight than last season.

Locke, great marketing tool, but did nothing today I wouldn't have been just as comfortable Evalds handling.

BJB wasn't in touch from where I was sat. Both legs were in the air and knees didn't touch the line. Dobson looked short of match fitness his timing was out for a number of plays.

Reliably informed Chase, Locke, Dobson & Jones-Bishop carrying injuries.
A win was essential today & was delivered.
Defence still dodgy.
Attendances will improve with more success.
Tony Smith suggested teams traditionally perform poorly after the trip to Catalan so a victory was acceptable.
When will RFL & SKY sort out the fixtures. Yet again next Friday we have a rearranged game yet over Easter clubs can play two games in four days!

BJB was def in touch, his foot touched the line before he raised it. Was right in front of me. Was pretty stupid play, no need to go anywhere near touch. Other than that he had a solid game, caught all the bombs sent his way, was solid in defence, worked hard bringing the ball away from our line but looked short of match fitness/carrying an injury.
Locke was solid, did nothing wrong, some good goal line defence. Nothing spectacular, hints at line breaks but no more
Dobson was good. His timing a bit out with colleagues but plenty there to suggest he'll come good with more games. He and Chase linked well a couple of times, most notably for our second try.
Morley was very impressive. His 60m dash was worth the entrance money on its own. Was gutted he couldn't quite get over for the try.
Taylor was very strong again as were Tasi, Hansen and Hauraki
Chase made most of the chances we created
Overall was a decent game and one we go had to win. Wakefield played well and we would have lost this game last year. Our goal line defence was the best we've managed this year and we were lucky they blew a few chances. But is 2 points and we're in the top 6

2 point was what we needed, quite a few players clearly carrying injuries, thought Chase was the difference between wining & losing. Thought it was a mistake to start with Morley, we missed some go forward in the first 20 minutes.
I think Harris will be pleased to get this game over with 2 points, locke, dobson BJB all got a game under there belt & will get better.

I think the most disappointing aspect of our game was to kill the game when we had the cushion of 12 points in the second half, we failed to play our sets in there half & missed a couple of easy chances to take the extra point.

Very good 2 points was always going to be tough after a hard game in France. Special mention to Taylor & Chase who were outstanding. Still to many missed tackles which needs addressing. End of the day were up to 6th and i'll take that at the end of the season!

Highlight of the match for me was Tommy Lee's drop goal attempt! I think it was a drop goal attempt anyway, found it hilarious.

I don't think anyone really had a bad game, though there's obviously room for improvement across the park.

Morley's break was fantastic, a shame he didn't make it on his 300th SL appearance. Chase was involved in every one of our tries. Johnson was brilliant, glad he finally got a try this season, as I've mentioned elsewhere he's unlucky with the service he gets. Dobson had some nice touches & his kicking game was a breath of fresh air.

I think I could go on and highlight positives from every player, and that's a refreshing, recent change. Team spirit looks as good as it's ever been in recent years.

The only negatives for me were the crowd. Both the lack of one, even though I thought it was larger than the Hull mtach, and the negativity. I honestly wonder why some of them bother turning up; slating players all match, shouting abuse etc. I found it odd that people were chanting Theo's name when Dobbo hardly gained any metres from a penalty, Theo would have kicked it downfield and gained us 80m wouldn't he? Right?

Definitely things to work on & some players need match fitness/are carrying knocks, this will sort itself out though. Cas will be touch on Friday, they'll have had 8 days licking their wounds in anticipation of setting things right but I'm confident this Solly team can keep the ball rolling for a change.

Agreed 100%, 2 points and 6th in the table, I think we'd all have settled for that at the start of the season!

Re the service to Johnson, I love watching Junior Sau, his commitment, strength and determination are great to see but I am wondering if we've secretly recruited Stuart Littler as a specialist coach for passing from the centre position? Mind you Stuart always knew where the try line was too icon_smile.gif

Firstly, the booing of Dobson and the chanting of “Theo, Theo” in a blatant protest over the inclusion of Dobson sums up the mindset of some of our supporters. Pathetic.

I also thought in defence, Dobson was spot on. Still hasn’t clicked going forward yet, but you’d expect that on only his second start in a Salford shirt. Theo has had the advantage of being with this group from the beginning, whereas Dobson hasn’t. I’m sure given time he will excel. That said, when he came on Theo was brilliant again.

MOM was rightly given to Scot Taylor, who I criticised following the Saints game. More than happy to hold my hands up and say he has proved me wrong, since the Hull game he’s been our best prop. Shame we’ve only got him for one season. Greg Johnson a close second who was fantastic in both defence and attack, he looked like he was sick and tired of recent no ball in the last few games and went looking for anything and everything. Finished his try well too.

I spoke with Rangi after the game, he hadn’t trained all week and BJB was still carrying a knee injury. I was pleased to see Kevin Locke get another 80 minutes under his belt, again he looked solid at the back and we’re seeing an improvement in his performances.

Conclusion; not our best game. Improvements in defence, but not clinical enough in attack. We should have put Wakefield away much sooner than we did and it was criminal the game was still as close as it was going into the final few minutes.

Delighted we won, obviously, and agree about some of the good performances
Mozza's run was worth the admission money alone and hadn't realised what a good player Hauraki is.
The only negative is that we remain very much less than the sum of our parts.
We'd have settled for 6th after 5 games, and only losing to Wire away, and Saints.
