| I'm just wondering what the situation is as regarding car parking this coming season. I've had a parking 'season ticket' for the last two seasons as it works out cheaper than paying £5.00 every time, but I'm sure I heard somewhere that parking might be free of charge in the future. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

| Get free parking.
Don't wash, keep your dog on a piece of rope and make it clear you'll cause trouble if you get charged for parking.
I was told on Sunday that the anti fracking protestors get free parking as the SMC have been advised by the Police that protestors would cause trouble if attempts were made to charge them.

That's shocking. If true.

100% true, I knew before this past Sunday that this was the case but when I arrived for the gym last weekend someone I know was on site and they confirmed that the protesters don't pay to use the parking facilities and that the reason behind this was the trouble they would cause.
My feelings on the whole affair are already out there but it is pretty poor that when your more than likely going to go on and spend no little money in the stadium your expected to pay to park on match days, but then people with no connection to the site get to use it scott free because of the threat of trouble (costing the SMC money as they have have to get staff in to manage the parking issue).
Wonder if offers certain sections of the protesters a good vantage point to try to shine high powered lights into the eyes of the pilots of the Police helicopter when it is over residential properties?

| Slagging protesters off because of a decision made by the SMC/dibble? Good one. And the less said about the "don't wash..." comment, the better. Any evidence that they'd cause trouble, too, whilst we're at it?
Yet another example of divide and conquer taking attention away from those we should be having a go at.
***EDIT***
Taken from the website:
Parking
At the stadium
The stadium offers 600 free* car parking spaces in close proximity to the stadium, including accessible and convenient disabled parking, as well as ample coach parking spaces for groups.
On match days, the 600 parking places on a permanent tarmac surface are mostly pre-booked by season ticket holders.
Matchday car parking tickets cost £5.00 per vehicle and must be pre-purchased at the stadium or through Ticketline up until 10.00pm the night before the game.
There is additional temporary parking available on extra gravelled areas which can be paid for on the day.
(* £5.00 parking charges apply on match days)
So non match day parking is free anyway, according to the stadium website. Nothing argument in the first place.

The don't wash comment was obviously jovial.
Do note though that the last reference to the protesters shining the light into the Police pilots eyes didn't merit a comment!
Who should WE? be having a go at, I know just as many people happy to explore the use of a natural resource that can help to provide energy for future generations and also provide benefits for the areas this resource is extracted from.

Yeah, obviously.

Was that ever proven? I saw allegations of a flare being fired at a helicopter, but never any concrete proof. Happy to be told otherwise.

A natural resource that's been shown to have numerous environmental, safety, and health hazards? OK. But, to be honest, in this instance I was referring to who you should be having a go at for the parking situation. If you're that unhappy about protesters being allowed to park on the car park for free on days when it's free parking anyway (and gym members get a car park pass, too, so it's not as if you're forking out), I'd suggest you look at the police for being the ones "forcing" the SMC to do so, rather than attacking the protesters themselves.

How much were you charged for parking?

| The report I'm referring too is one I'm sure I read about where lasers/high powered torch beams have been directed at the Police helicopter from the protestors camp, what I'm sure (if the reports are true) they didn't consider is the flight path coming directly over areas of population and what would happen if the helicopter came down. I can't see the report of the flare firing incident being fabricated, I'm not the biggest fan of the Police but I would take their word over that of the protestors.
As was discussed previously there are reports to suggest fracking caused minimal environment damage that suits one side and different reports that suggest significant damage that the other side find helpful to their cause. My own feelings is that it should be fully explored and exploited to help provide fuel for future generations.
I'll admit I didn't know that there was a number of free parking spaces on the stadium site, my main point was the fact that the SMC have been advised that there would be issues caused by charges being made to anyone visiting the camp for protests, though you would have thought that protestors worried by the environmental impact of fracking might also be concerned by the damage the pollution of their cars.
My point being is I find it strange on match days that charges are made to people attending games when on other days people who are using the parking facilities for nothing other than sheer convience are allowed to park free of charge.
I wasn't charged for parking, as a member of the gym I get free on site parking, if there was extra charges for this I would not pay, in the same vein as I would not pay to park on match days in principle.

| You'd take the word of the police over the protesters? You've not had many dealings with them, then, particularly the GMP. They'll do anything to put protests down, ask anyone involved in the anti-Glazer protests.
As for the rest of your badly made point, you've now realised there's no charge for anyone on a non-match day. As strange as that may seem (to some, anyway) it doesn't back up the idea that people are getting special dispensation to park there. So this whole thread, beyond the OP being told the price of Salford match day parking, has been a waste of time based on inaccuracies.
Par for the course on here, I suppose.

You don't think there's the *tiniest* possibility that the chief constable of the GMP might be trying to deflect away the bad press the GMP is getting due to a video of a GMP officer clearly trying to stitch up a member of the public? Really?
