I know some people will disagree with me. But I'd like to thanks John Wilkinson OBE for everything he has done for Salford City Reds RLFC over the last 30 years. If it weren't for him the club would have died a long time ago. I just hope he will be remembered for this by the fans.

The man is a Salford and Rugby League legend. Salford has been part of his life for over thirty years. He's been a part of ours during all that period too. I am sure tonight he will harbour all kinds of emotions. I would just like to say to John, "Thank you."

So glad we recognise a man who has given 30 years to the club of Salford. Let not look back on some of the short comings we have been through recently but recognise a person who as kept the club alive without having the deep pockets needed to run any sport organisation.

| While the last days of Sir John have not been the best it should not detract from what this gentleman has done for Salford. The criticism he has had from various quarters was hurtful to see. Only he knows how much of his own resources he has put in over the years but i for one thank him for every penny he has spent. Sir John..we thank you and wish you all the very best in wherever life takes you.  |
