| I've just seen on Facebook that Stefan is going to auction his Grand Final shirt and donate the money raised to help our crisis. Quality gesture from the man.

| It's on twitter as well. Bidding currently at £320.
A training day with the Salford players is also being auctioned off, starting from tomorrow if anyone is interested. Nero on twitter seems to be the person setting it up.

| What a knob dboy!!!
Ratch has just gone up in my estimation again, good lad!!!
We need some more gestures like that to show us support if nothing else. Pity the Bradford board don't match the integrity of some of their supporters...talking to Longy. Talk about picking over the bones before the carcass is actually dead. Considering where they were 6 months ago too.

Why are you insulting me??
I agree with you completely. My post reflects the futility of the situation.
The rfl should protect you, as they did the Bulls...and the Bulls should keep their hands off, as did the rest of the clubs when they were up the creak.

Out of season it's surprising how many just turn off in off season . You can tell by the inactivity on the forums. We are starting to gather momentum now had some pledges/donations from other clubs, but we need more help.

| My comment was based on the fact that your flippant remark turned something that was positive done by a former player into a negative. Rather than saying what is the point people should be saying fair play to Stefan. I apologise if I have misconstrued you but I thought it was an unnecessary remark.
As for the RFL, they are giving the club more assistance than has been publicly announced. I cannot say anymore than that but I know that the RFL are helping in a real tangible way at this moment in time.

Do you not think that if the RFL were public as they were with the bulls you may gather more support?

If you are intending turning out a team for the forthcoming season, or if the RFL are bothered about you turning out a team, I'd be worried about the perceived lack of support from the media, the RFL and the wider RL community in supporting your plight.
I take your point but from minute 1 of the eventual emergence of the bulls plight it was very public they would not fail.
That cannot be said for the Salford situation, personally I think that stinks.

I get the impression that quite a few RL journos feel that Salford have been hard to get communication out of for some time, and now we are reaping what we have sown by them not really buying into what is said.

| Great gesture by the lad but I would encourage him to keep hold of the money until you know how to use it. Administration seems a certainty, its what happens after that you should be preparing for.

| I hate to see any club struggling being a Widnes Viking supporter my entire life I have been through the mill a few times already.
My issue is with the way RFL bigwigs are always so cloak & dagger apart from on very rare occasions e.g Bradford.
If they were more transparent in things like this situation whereby somebody has stated that they are helping in a viable way then maybe more fans from all clubs would be happy to support the game more. As it stands people just see RFL bigwigs sat in boardrooms doing nothing to help smaller clubs and just helping the big guns all the time.
Be more open and more fans will think more if them and that could in time mean more fans coming to games and speaking about the game in a positive way which could only lead to good things in my opinion.

If the RFL made some sort of 'blanket statement' to the effect that they will provide emergency financial assistance to any club then that would merely encourage more profligate spending. In the Bradford case they bought the club's ground, something they can't do for Salford as they don't own it. I'd also be interested to hear of the 'help' that the RFL provide to the [i'big guns all the time.'[/i
