I am bring my grandson on Monday for the first time, he his 4 years old. I decided to buy him the new home shirt today & bought the smallest shirt possible available in the shop, took it for him to try on only to find it buried him. Took back to the shop to find they could not do a refund until Monday, could not check if they had any other stock in the store because they were locked & not available.

Would complain to the club if I felt I would receive a positive or even a response.

One of the reason I am finally taking my grandson is it is a day match & the FAMILY promotion the club or marketing have done as encouraged me to introduce him to the club. hope the kiddies shirts are locked away for Monday as this is a great opportunity to sell & get small kids involved although on today's visit I suspect not. I also tried to buy a small kiddies hat, none available.

Finally the lady in the shop was very helpful but embarrassed at what she was unable to do, very frustrating.

My girlfriend went in the club shop to buy her daughter a junior shirt. She is six years old and the smallest shirt buried her. She was ready to part with the money and had also received a tenner off voucher if you spend £40 from the goodie bags they handed out yesterday so prob would have bought other items.

Good effort from the club to get families down yesterday but there was a six year who would have been running around proudly in a Salford shirt but now she will probably buy a football shirt instead.

I bought my 6 year old the tops and have ended up having to get them shortened to fit which has put me even more out of pocket. When i took them back to the shop - was told that the smaller one's had were all sold out and no idea if or when they would get more in because of the way numbers have to be ordered.

I understand that this is how it has to be but still very frustrating as others have said because i had to get bigger and then pay out more to get to fit and tops aint cheap to start with.

I am very interested to see where the Sale Sharks are going to sell their stuff from. They surely cant have half our shop, theres barely enough room now. And presumeably they would need a bigger floor space ...

I'm no retail expert, but the shop is crying out for baskets and baskets filled with cheaper items. I have two young boys, one of whom is becoming increasingly keen on watching Salford. Whenever I have taken him in the shop I pretty much have the choice of forking out £30-odd on a replica shirt or...well, nothing!

I worked for a few seasons years ago in the old Megastore at United and whilst I know they are on a completely different level to us, the fact was the club sold bucket loads of cheap items: posters, stationery, glasses, mugs, cheap t-shirts, babygrows, sticker sets, autograph books, boot bags, drawing pads, etc, etc. How hard can it be? Just mass produce something and put a crest on it!! Or a picture of the child friendly mascot - oh, hang on...

Most of us don't have much money to chuck about, but I'd happily give my son a couple of quid to spend in the club shop at every home game, and send him off to school with his new Reds butty box, drinks bottle, pencil, pens, etc.

May be the margin on these items isn't great - I don't know - but at least it's getting the stuff out in the schools. Believe it not, some kids are proud to be Salford fans and would show off their tat with pride - and you'd be amazed at how much interest other kids take in that sort of stuff.

Having tried to spend some money in the shop over the last 20-odd years no-one can tell me it's been tried and failed, cos we've never had anything other than shirts, scarves and mugs for sale!!

The smallest shirt went down to her knees. She aint gonna spend £30 plus for a shirt that she will grow into in a year or two!

I won't comment on Sale as I have no idea how they run their merchandising/ finances/ etc, and to be honest could not give two hoots.

But blow me, look at that photo of Wigan's shop. It looks almost identical in size to ours - but that is where the similarities appear to end! It is clearly [iwell [/istocked, with a [irange [/iof goods. Like I said, I am no merchandising expert, but if a member of the public with an interest in Wigan RL finds themself in that shop, they will more than likely [ispend money[/i.

Don't want to go on about the negatives while the club is going through what is a tough transitional spell, but this is so basic and fundamental to our club not just surviving, but growing it's brand in a (soon to be even more) crowded marketplace. Surely someone at the club has the knowledge and ability to put this right?!?

...and if not, why not?
