Right people we need to get right behind rlTHISrl, we've been put in a great position with the BBC moving here but sadly they're attempting to take away our RL hour/hours and many other local programmes and with RL getting minimal publicity/air time in any medium we can ill afford to lose this

The BBC like all public bodies is under real pressure to save money, because of shortfalls in other support.
This is as a result of the obvious lack of money in UK PLCs coffers, IMO they should act with a bit more ethics than other public sector employees, and try and manage the cuts as best as possible while still offering as good a quality and variety of service.
Everyone appreciates that times are hard and the huge debt we have accumulated needs paying off, but nobody is willing to put their hand up. The teachers dont want to, the local government dont, the police dont, the bankers certainly dont (dont get me started!!!) but somebody has to, and it was always likely that public funded institutions were going to be hit.
The private sector businesses have had tight budgets for years and virtually no pensions, because they have to be self funded and if they do it unwisely they will go pop.
The public sector has wasted millions in taxpayers money over the years, and now they are being dragged quite quickly into the modern world, and the BBC are part of it.
Not a party political rant, just a rant!

Wheels already in motion at a local Championship club that isn't Swinton

we already have the facilities at Salford City radio to be able to broadcast locally but also using the internet for further away, I am sure there are community radio stations near other Rugby Clubs, doesn't take much to link up with others to broadcast to the other regions as well.

I'm really liking this fans radio idea.

I recall a crackin' little show that used to broadcast on Salford City Radio, IIRC the host and his sidekick were very entertaining and informative....
