| It still staggers me to see the bitterness posted on here surrounding the ineffectiveness of JAW, HC & IW. I make no apology for being a Supporter of the Board for their personal unpaid efforts on behalf of the club.
We have the lowest Budgets, the Lowest Cap, the smallest Support etc etc yet JAW & Co have managed to move us away from Weaste to a fabulous new entity at Barton.
We should be very proud of the fact that the Board have managed to keep us going for so long (the £4+ Million debt is mostly theirs) & yet the mindless minority still call for their heads. It beggars belief.
So PLEASE can we move on and be positive about our lot. We have much to be proud of.
My BIG worry though is that the Chairman is 3 years off 70. He cannot go on forever. Can we find a younger man please to take over - JAW would I am quite sure - be delighted.

| Yep, happy for the board to pump money into the club but not happy to let them run things as they see fit.
We seem to have supporters that believe we're critically underachieving and others who think simply surviving the last 10 years at the Willows and obtaining our franchise was a success story in itself.
Here's to a bright future!

You make no apology for being a supporter of the board, nowt wrong with that.I make no apology for supporting the
club for near sixty years.and in that time seeing the great team of the Mr Snape era,But even you must acknowledge
that the board you are supporting have made a right mess,of this episode. And by the way I have also supported this
board but not on this issue, you mention Mr Watson I don't know, how you know what he thinks I have not heard anything
attributed to him,he is like a silent partner, although I have spoken to a few times,he always give me the impression
that if asked he will say what he thinks. You go on about Mr Wilkinson, who as man I respect, what ever comments I
have made on this site,I have said to him.But nobody asked him to get involved he made that choice, some say if he had't we would be like some other clubs,I don't go along with that, because nobody really nose.I also think the pep talk he gave to the staff,he should also have given to the supporters. You say we should be going forward I could not agree more
But we should be going forward with Matt Parish that is my opinion.

It staggers me to see the blindness or sheer blinkered attitude of some supporters on this forum. Yeah the chairman may of put is hand in his own pocket on a few occasions but what salford fan would'nt in his position. If he was'nt making any money from salford he would'nt be doing it, come on. He certainly is'nt doing it out the goodness of is heart. (although he would want us to think that.). The club has totally been mismanaged since 1982. Us fans are not demanding like Wigan, Saints, Leeds, are to win a trophy every year , all were simply praying for is to be competitive, and the crowds will increase with a well established competitive team its not rocket science. Im sick of hearing excuses." its the salary cap","weve got the smallest support.","weve got the lowest budgets." I thought JW has a reputation of being a top class businessman, for over 25 years now weve not improved one little bit. We all slag off SS and DT but you've got to look deeper JW has employed these two ijits beside him, he's also appointed 14 coaches in 29 years that speaks volumes about his judgement. He should of payed decent wages for a Brian Smith type calibre of coach and Peter Deakin type PR man going into the new stadium, instead of paying silly wages for SS and DT.
Yeah were moving to a new entity at barton.
(he sold our ground.we now rent.)
£4 + million pound in debt.
(Mismanaged. blame the salary cap, low budgets, small support).
What happened to the myler money, paid a so called tax bill.(mismanaged again.we all pay taxes).
Salford have had ample time now to find solutions to combat these flawed excuses. I wish no harm on JW but he is the person responsible why this club is in this unhealthy state. We don't even own any assets. Enough is enough, heads must roll like they would at wilkinson star, for failings like salfords.
I expect a barage of abuse now to tell me how mentally deranged i am , but i only have an opinion just like yourselves guys.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| JW is a cracking bloke , however like most others , it is unlikely in his business dealings he has to ' market a luxury product ' , I have no doubt he has tipped millions into the Salford cause , however has he ever taken the marketing of the clubs seriously ?
John will be from the old school thinking , the one that thinks that spending money on the team/coaching Staff , will result in more fans through the gates , it won't , well not in the numbers needed to make the leap to becoming a top club
The 1 st budget set by the club should be the marketing one , unfortunatly it is quite often the last and therefore totally inadequate to do any sort of proper job
The sport cannot finance the business , the business has to finance the sport
Now playing at the Willows might well have made things more difficult as regards practical ways of building a fan base ( and changing one , which I have noted some on here disagreeing with , ie suggesting a family orientated club isn't how they want things to go ) , but the move to Barton is the chance to change that
Some clubs have seem large increases when moving into more inviting homes , some haven't , if John is just hoping that new fans will just turn up , he is wrong , no disrespect here , but Salford are more Leigh , Doncaster , than Warrington,Hull
A large cash budget , a huge free ticket budget and somebody who is enthusiastic and motivated to bring in the new local populace is desperately needed right now , or the move could fall as flat as ours did
With the probability of Sale moving in at Barton , you cannot afford to get this wrong , or your SL place will be at risk , the only way Leigh will ever get into SL will be at your expense , 5 Lancashire clubs is the maximum that will be allowed
So yes JW has been fantastic for you , and he is indeed a Salford Legend , he is the reason you are where you are , is he the man to take you antihero couple of steps up the ladder ? , I'm not too sure on that one

| Making a profit out of running a rugby club would really be a first. Wilkinson is the kind of chairman most clubs and fans want. You really have no idea how lucky you have been and are.

I really cannot understand some fans. So Salford RLFC is a moneyspinner?
From September to February - just tell me where the money comes from within the club to pay wages/salaries etc - but for Sky we would be dead.
Dreadful comment DI and you should retract.

Bonita is right - Matt was a prat and we`ve been used. There is no doubt that he had another Agenda all along. I think you should speak to some of the YOUNGER players to understand his Man Management.
Sure he was Origin assistant coach but was coaching players who knew the time of day and would learn very little from him.
Remember though he was sacked by North Queensland Cowboys and until his 5 minute stint at Salford had never held a Top Coaching position.
I just feel you are over estimating totally not only his abilities as a coach but more importantly his stature as a man.

| The facts remain very simple to me!
Salford rugby club at the Williows owned the club up to 2009, 2011 we are a tenant with no assets, Salford rugby club have never or will never be the best supported club in super league but the alarming drop in supporters year on year tells it own story.
We should be so excited about the prospect of moving into our new stadium but many are not, we should for once in our clubs history be taking the marketing opportunity thrown our way with both hands but we are not.
We as supporters should be allowed to express our opinions without being pillared for questioning the appalling cock up we find our club in, giving that this is the most important time in history.
I believe that the board have a duty to reverse the negative press rightly or wrongly they have received. I believe Mr Wilkinson, & the board should be considering meeting a selection of fans as what we need now more than ever despite our personal feelings, we need to work at building some unity within the club & this can only start with the board entrusted with taking our club forward trying some different approach than the entrenched position it is currently under.

Lance,I am of the same opinion as Early Bath on this matter with regards the verbal abuse aimed at the present board in what everyone acknowledges are very difficult times for the club, its board and supporters.
With regards the the board "making a right mess of this episode" I presume that you are talking about the Matt Parish affair, in which case in your eyes, does Matt Parish bear any responsibility for the club being in the position to appoint Phil Veivers as our new coach?
In his own words at the meeting that we both attended, he had done his homework thoroughly on the club and knew what was expected of him can you say categorically that you have clear evidence that the club reneged on any promises that were made to him, that were serious enough for him to resign shortly after flying back from Australia?(Not rumours)
The board appointed Matt Parish as Head Coach as they presumably thought that he was the best for the job,did they or the club let Matt down or was it the other way round, again if you are privy to information (not rumours) to contrary, please let us know about it.
With regards the Brian Snape era I was around with yourself at that time and even then we had people in the shed and elsewhere who were not satisfied with a variety of things, Griff Jenkins as coach, Cliff Evans as coach, Les Bettinson as coach, even the the championship winning side of 1975/76 had players who were criticized by some fans, players such as Doug Davies,John Knighton, Dean Rastrick come to mind as the target of some fans in the then shed and this is a fact as I was stood behind them most of the time hearing the chants.
Its not a pep talk that we as supporters need its a dose of reality about how we should try to support the club in whatever way we can and stop running it down at every opportunity when it suits.
As people have stated on many occasions the present board members deserve some credit for what they have put into the club over the years and some of their critics appear to have one agenda on this forum and another when they meet them face to face.

No I am saying the Origin players would not need the level of coaching required - they have attained nigh on `superstar` status already - their ability would be on a different level to the likes of our squad - He must have known our levels before he came.
