Matt Parish, seems to be down beat already,he did not take any positives at tall from to day.It seems there is little or
no money for him for next season.Yes two will go back, and two come in,but that,s not team building,so was he sold a
pup,at is interview, there was a call to Radio Manchester,Jack Dearden tried to defuse the comment, but it was said.
If Moon as singed tell us,also long.even outsiders are now saying we are like amateurs, can you blame them.Steve Simms
said they were hoping to get more revenue, with more fans coming with away teams, but If we carry on the way we are
there will be only them there, you cannot run a club like that surely.

most of the above post is hard to read but......

Parish is refreshing, he took no positives from the performance and intends to make them pay.

I say good on him, for too many years we have had the likes of Mcrae telling us there are good things.

Parish would know exactly what he was getting in to, he has enough mates here to make enquiries about the club, or read the internet.

Bl**dy H*ll LanceTodd - have you ever seen a positive in anything?

I listened to MP's interview on the way back from the game (and yes we were outclassed against that Wigan side, but so have many others been) - his comments were spot on - goal line defence poor, need to work harder with the squad we have and get those players to believe in themselves and start to deliver.

He'll do for me

I thought it wouldn't be long until a thread like this turned up. This season is over and the remaining games are there for our Coach to assess, change, praise, bollock, etc in expectation of next year. It's good that the coach gets a dose of Salford reality so that it can be changed sooner rather than later. The back-end of this season will help hugely for preparation, recruitment, retention to name but a few. He's got a big job, but that's what a coach is there to do. Change things, make things better. I'm sure if a coach of any calibre quit after a few months he could forget about walking into another head coach job.

Making suggestions of disenchantment and doom-mongering helps the Club out in what way exactly?

Lance ask Matt Parish that question tomorrow night at the meeting.

At the first meeting with the fans,he certainly gave the impression that he knows exactly what he has taken on and ask him if he feels that he has been sold a pup.

The bloke should at least be given a chance without being subject to the usual prophets of doom jumping in.

Having been to the match, with a great bunch of Salford Supporters, I missed the Radio Manchester phone in but I know one thing for sure, Jack Dearden couldn't defuse a balloon let alone a call from a listener.

I am not having a go at Matt Parrish, far from it.But I do think he should be given all the assistance he needs
don,t you.people are asking about recruitment, for next season.A we not aloud to ask,the coach was asked the
question him self,he said its money,no I am certainly not having a go at the coach,no he as got my backing
for a longs as he stays, what ever the results.Because you no as well as me,we have had more coaches than
National Express.

I believe MP will be here until the Reds have made significant improvements. Like others I witnessed today a lack of intensity in tackling, poor goal line defence.
We must appreciate that Wigan are a great team and we are lacking in many areas. I am hoping that a close season MP, PV and SL working on the basics and building a team from 1-17 who are proud to wear the shirt will bring results next year.

Long live the Reds

I think he will see out his contract lance so maybe you need another hobby horse.

The underlying problem is a shortage of capital in the club and in the game as a whole.

We have 3 Directors who have done what they can to produce a SL side with their own funding, Sky Money and Income from Gates, Sponsorship etc.

It doesnt need a Rocket Scientist to tell us that the Tailor cutting our suits doesnt have half as much cloth such as Wigan, Warrington, Leeds & Hull. That will ALWAYS be the problem and can only be solved by :-

a) New Directors willing to let Mr Parish use an open cheque book to recruit the people wanted
b) Huge income revenues from our new Stadium

The latter is our best hope as I dont see many businessmen wanting to invest in Super League in this recession. Those of us in business know just how hard it is currently and as for the Banks helping small businesses like SCR - well God help us! Typically they are lending Umbrellas whilst the sun shines but as soon as rain falls they want it back.

So its a question of living within our means at Barton. Its a time for MP to have a good look at his squad - clear out the dead wood and those never going to make it and bring in youngsters who he will be able to mould and also scour the Championship for young players who wont be asking for the earth for contracts. Personally I feel there is talent around which is untapped in the Championship and also in other places such as RU in South Africa.

From what I have heard of Parish he seems a real top quality bloke who gives it to people honestly.

I agree with what Early bath wrote although at the last 4ever Reds meeting where Parish impressed with his honesty, it was Mr Simms who for me showed the ambition or lack of it my those high up in the day to day running of the club, by stating that they hope to get more revenue by getting more away fans! It beggars belief that an official says something like this when they should be trying to attract customers to 13 games a season and not 1.

Early bath wrote that we should be looking in the championship, I agree with him entirely we only have to look at some of the quality players who have come from the lower league, Jon Wilkin, Peter Fox , Sam Obst, Martin Gleeson, Danny Brough, to name a few.

I do disagree though that the directors couldn't do a lot more -for instance they should be asking questions as to why we are in this position financially? why is the sales/marketing non existent? What is the Chief Executive doing to earn his salary? (thats Mr Tarry who doesnt even know what rugby is) and why we are paying money which could be spent on players for a football director who has presided over two relegation and numerous awful buys not to mention 3 coaches. (He is the Teflon Don).

As to Parish sounding disgruntled or disappointed, yes I bet he is after a poor performance. When he came here I bet he didn't realise the depth of his problems and lets be fair his last coaching involvement was with NSW, it must be one hell of a shock to go from Hayne etc to the likes of our lot!!!

I'm hoping that Matt tells them a few uncomfortable truths about today, wigan are a very good side but another 50+ scoreline isn't good enough I don't blame Matt I just hope he uses this community spirit he is trying to build to its advantage.

Predictable , both on the topic and the poster who started it ..

Parish has been here now I guess a month ?
why hasn't he clicked his heels and made everything better yet ?

how many times have we won at the DW Stadium ? it took me 30 odd years to see our team beat Leeds at Headingley. but I'm not going to 'kick off ' because he hasn't acheived a win at the DW in 30 days. Wigans total benefitted from R Hicks Penalty count in the first half and the ubiquitous yellow card in the 2nd. yes our poor try line defence is a problem but there were positives to take from the game, notably Danny Williams.
yet we had BBC Radio talking about the 'Salford Problem ' and the usual callers bemoaning our fate. icon_mad.gif

Guess what , it's probably going to get worse, but to be honest what other choice do we have but to get behind this coach and the players who want to get it right?

Everybody connected with the club needs to back Matt Parish 100%. He seems like a breath of fresh air, impatient to turn Salford into a team that can compete with the top teams, and beat them.

That's what I want too.

There should be no surprise from MP in terms of the playing staff, their contracts, and the money he has to spend on new players. All of this should have been discussed at the interview.
Even if the chairman painted a somewhat "rosey" picture of life at SRLFC, surely MP will have done his research - wouldnt you before travelling round the world for a new job?

That's why I was confused by his interview - I'm all for discipline and straight talking, but he must know that his job is to make the best out of what he's got, mustn't he?????

I went to the game, and saw we were beaten by better players, who play in a very professional way. I cant say there was a lack of commitment or effort from Salford, and Wigan's skill in getting penalties in key areas of the field ended the contest by half time.
Not saying Wigan didnt deserve their panalties, it's up to the Salford to manage the ref in the same way Wigan did, that's something that can be coached.

I cannot believe we are having this debate, we have a new coach & we all agree he has given us a lift. I am sure he knew all about us before he came to us, for god sake one of the reason the board employed him was the research he had done on Salford before his interview & what had impressed the board was his vision on young players
I for one have seen some positive changes, he is faced already with loosing Rachford, Cashmere & Henry & I am sure he is working on his squad for next season when we will have plenty of time to judge. I am happy with his comments after game as he clearly a guy who lives & breaths the club already, I was glad he was disappointed with our performance level it shows he cares.
Lets please get away from this debate & get behind our coach, he has faced HKR away, Leeds at home & Wigan away, not the easiest in my book or am I missing something!
