| At the end of every season we all have a look down the fixture list and pin point games which shaped where we finished, i feel friday is one of them games, win on friday we are in the 8 (other results permitting), castleford have been pegged back to striking distance and the 7 and 8 spots are up for grabs imo
Castleford win and they are out of the dog fight imo looking up and not down, im sure their coach matterson has drilled this into them and im sure they will be well up for friday i just hope we meet them fire with fire friday and play with the same kind of commitment and attitude and skill shown over the last few weeks, ANYTHING LESS and we wont win.
I feel winning 3 in a row is a massive phycological barrier to jump over we beat Cas on friday and hand on heart i can see us winning the next 2 at least, 5 on the spin we would be the form team going into the business end of the season and thats before Parish appears and sprinkles a bit of magic, positivity breads positivity in this game
Im confident that with the players we have and the way they are performing at present its ours to lose friday, big statement i know, but the only thing that is going to beat us....is us....in the past how many times have we won 2 and the 3rd game nerves have got the better of us and we have served up a duff performace.
This year i feel its different the players we have brought in are use to this kind of pressure at the business end of the season and they will hopefully build a platform for us to move forward on.
Every salford fan i have spoken too this week sound positive about getting a result, so im hoping the shed will be rocking as a big game like this one needs a big atmosphere as we dont want to be swallowed up into a nervous high axiety atmosphere as if the players feel it the wheels are more likey to come off
To be fair i feel the pressure will be on Castleford, from riding high in the superleague lose friday and fail to get out of the rut they find themselves in and they might even drop out of the 8 in a few weeks result permitting
Anyway Role on friday the players are good enough to get a result as long as they bring their usual "A game" which they have used over the last few weeks, we are all behind them again so it might be our time.....

| We have had a few big must win games if we are to grab 7th or 8th place, the last being away at bratfud. But like mentioned above this is a big one for the reaasons mentioned above,we win and then have 2 deffo winnable games away at our bogey side who we owe a big thumping too then quinns at home! This would leave us in my opinion only needing 2 wins out of our last 7 games to secure a play off spot!
COME ON YOU RED MEN

| i have been saying this to a collegue of mine in work today... if you look at it, win on friday thats 2 points, crusaders is a potentially winnable game 4 points, potentially beat quins at home 6 points, could possibly get a win at either of the hull aways 8 points, get beat by leeds at home an then wigan away, then probably get beat by hudds and saints and beat catalans at home last game at the willows 10 points...
so potentially we could get another ten points this year, obviously this is ambitious thinking, but the teams we can ge the points off are definately beat able... add to this mix the arrival of parish, and if the players take to him the place could be buzzing!
even if we win only 4 of the remaining games that will see us finish on 22Pts
2006 Wigan finished 8th with 22Pts
2007 Wakefield finished 8th with 23Pts
2008 Wakefield finished 8th with 22Pts
2009 Catalans finished 8th with 26Pts
2010 Crusaders finished 8th with 24Pts
as you can see, for the last 5 seasons the 8 has been achieved with around 22-24 points with the exception of 2009...
i understand that before 2008 the competition only had 12 teams competing in it... but its clear the kind of points we are lookin at if we want to be in the mix for the playoffs at the end of the year

I agree with that the wins we have had has put us in this position and in a way "the biggest game of the season" tag has been put on by ourselves to keep our season alive though the middle of the season, I do feel this is a real "biggest game of the season" as we have a real opportunity to be positive and shape our own destiny rather than rely on others dropping points to get active in the 8.

| In answer to the original question (in the thread title) no, I think we'll get humped.
Same old Salford, just when they makes you think they're on the up .....

| As with most games If the Shed gets behind them I think we will win. Should we let an early try in, a few of the knobbers will start to boo and gob of, then It'll be heads down and a pasting will be on the cards.
I really want us to win, however I'm not sure if the team have the mental fortitude for a game of such pressure.

| Unfirtunately I think it's more to do with whether castleford turn up or nor. If they do (and they tend to more often than not these days) then I think we'll lose. if we turn up too it should be a close game

I hope we do turn up against your boys on Friday but as always we'll all have to wait and see. The comeback against Wigan last Sunday will do us good though.

| Think that tomorrows game will define our season.
We should by rights be beating the likes of Cas with our current squad and after a scratchy but easy win against Wakey and then the win of the season against Warrington the team moral should be sky high. I would suggest that we'll go out all guns blazeing and play to an attacking game plan from the off.
As Fungus says though we go behind early as per and the Bennys in the crown will start the negative waves (you can't beat even more Kelly's Heros quotes) and start to create the type of atmosphere that has been prevelant this and the past few season the minute anything goes wrong.
There's only 5 or so games left so for God's sake lift the roof of the shed and make every game special for the right reasons.
On that tip does anyone else think that the Leeds game at the end of July will be the best atmosphere of the season? Can't for the life of me see why we didn't ask for dispensation to swap the Les Cats and Leeds games around, think the Leeds fans always come in great numbers and create a wonderful atmosphere and it would have been brilliant for me to swap the two games around.

It will be interesting to see how may turn up though, two wins on the bounce and all that.
