I've got a feeling Cooke will be playing for us next year, hope not though. Does this affect Wakey's license bid?

| Cooke is a genius if you keep him switched on, he gets bored and ends up self destructing, would give us xfactor but with Holdsworth would it be to many cooks? (haha)

Ah-men to that brother, don't think anyone would say no to Korki if the price is right.
Sad about Wakey though as I always kind of liked then after I dated someone from Normanton and had some brilliant nights out in wakey. Maybe a good thing and force thier hand into a ground share with Cas which I think we all know needs to happen for them to both really prosper.

| What a damn shame some of the traditional clubs are struggling so much.
As the other evening's viewing showed, some of these clubs are/were the backbone of the game we all appreciate.
I know it's not all over for them, but it doesn't bode well for the future.
And what a blessing to have a chairman who is financially astute, and co-directors who appear to be of the same ilk.

| If this is the case that we were going to go out of business then how come we have managed all these signings we made for next year and is there a chance we could go back to that possition again. I also question the franchise by making clubs upgrade to new stadiums when there aint the money in the game. I would be concerned for the game as a whole now

Exactly, HMRC have really tightened up their affairs in regards to sports clubs in the last few years & it's hard really to blame them. For too long now many sporting clubs have seen the VAT they collect from us fans as little more than an overdraft extension, cases such as this one & the winding up order issued to great publicity against Portsmouth Football Club must act as a salient lesson to other clubs to heed Red Willow's advice.
I sincerely hope that Wakey come through this without the need for administration (or worse) and that in the long run the club is run by people with far better financial acumen than the current setup appears to have displayed in the last couple of years. The fans & players deserve better.

Which reminds me, I must write an essay on the personality trait of neuroticism.
I'm sure the calculator that JW and the board have been using for the last 20 odd years is working as well as ever. We, the fans, only receive a snippet of information from the club. It's completely possible that the club have a new revenue stream they can take advantage of. Or perhaps they've just been saving up. Maybe, just maybe, the players we've signed aren't all that expensive in relation to the savings made from conclusion of the departing players contracts.
Now, neil72, stop worrying. You'll drive yourself mad man!

It must have cost clubs a small fortune in architect, planning and survey fees. It's seems unfair that the RL offer financial support to development clubs but don't seem to provide any help to other clubs.
It's obviously a case of the new government being less lenient despite the worse recession in decades. I fear this kind of hardnosed action could stiffle any chance of a recovery and make the situation even worse.
I think the problem for many rugby clubs is the fact they are subsidised by the directors and also rely heavily on sponsorship. In a recession there isn't as much money available and it's inevitable that a lot of clubs will suffer.

Nobody said we were going out of business simply that we could have been in a heap of trouble if we hadn't paid the tax man, and that would damage ant licence application. This bill was paid last season when we may not have been so flush, so what happens this year in regards to signings is largely irrelevant.
Compare this to life in general if you will, lets say you receive a bill which you know you've got to pay but at this time you don't have the cash, usually you'd spread the payments over time which is a drain on your finances for a longer period, now if some nice person (Warrington in this case) comes along as gives you an amount of money that would cover the whole bill in one, does it not make sense to pay the said bill, getting it out of the way (and keeping the Bailiff from the door), thus giving you more money each month for the future and helping you spend your dosh on anything you want (players in our case)?

Neil72 The simple fact is that our Chairman & the other directors would have had to pay the HMRC bill out of their own pockets if the Myler money had not come along.
And that would have possibly meant that there would have been much less money available to spend on the playing staff as is happening now for next season.
With regards the upgrading of the stadiums many of the clubs involved could/should have upgraded/relocated when they had the attendances and income to make the move and whatever supporters of other clubs say the Willows has had as much if not more investment over the years with the North Stand,Austin Truman Stand,Popular Side Stand(Shed) with a new roof etc.
If clubs do not improve things people complain if they do people complain, who would be a RL club chairman?
