There is only so long that someone can pretend to be capable of doing a job, until winding up petitions become lodged against the club and the public realise you're not doing your job properly. For it to even get that to stage would have consisted of numerous letters and correspondence.

Vickers had absolutely no experience of running a professional sports club before he joined and in a sense it isn't his fault, I am sure he has tried his best. There are Championship clubs which are better run than us at the moment.

Some people also say that the MEN need a new RL Writer.

Pointless what we think. We can have an opinion on something we know very little about, although its basis would be founded on nothing but what we imagine in our heads. Unless we work with or alongside Vickers we have no idea of his ability, role, or competence. We have very little knowledge of the ins and outs of the day to day workings to make anything but uninformed guesses. Unlike, say, someone who's job has a very visible and public element, where their end product is deliberately designed to be scrutinized such as Companies who produce consumer products, or Journalists who's job depends on passing scrutiny from the public.

For all we know, Vickers might be doing a great job in certain areas and not in others. He may be rubbish at everything he does. Or any combinations in between. The point being, that uninformed people are quick to judge without having a grasp of any facts. Not helped by awful 'journalists' who like to go around prodding hornets nests.

I have always thought that a lot of the issues with the club could be laid at Mr Vickers door. CCJ's, Winding up order, allegations of unpaid salaries, club shop (lack off),marketing, ticket sales are all the responsibility of a CEO.

I don't think the Dr has missed this either having removed all the financial stuff to one of his other companies (as he said at his press conference)

Martin still seems to think he works for a council with guaranteed cash flow and others responsible for paying things. Some of his social media posts show that he hasn't grasped the difference between a service people go to jail for if they don't pay and one were people have the option to pay for if they decide that is where they want to spend their hard earned pennies.

Running any service business let alone a sports club is a very different game from local government.

The reality is that we have no idea how competent Vickers is.
What we do know is that MK is implicitly blaming him for the financial shortcomings,which may or not be true.
Just a guess but I suspect he's the fall guy and working under instruction from MK but no one really knows

I wouldn't blame Vickers too much. There is no way any chairman, let alone one like Koukash, would allow all these issues to happen without their say so.

If the club is incurring WUP's, CCJ's, bailiffs etc it's because Koukash is allowing that to happen.

For example if you are like Michael Carter your only interest is the club you own, if like Dr K you have various worldwide business interests you rely on the people paid to be in day to day charge of those to keep them right and flag issues before it gets to a stage where solicitors are involved.

How much Dr K is worth is hotly debated, but we do know beyond Salford he owns a Hilton hotel, a large race horse business and a large training company; it is safe to assume he does not see every invoice sent to them or personally writes every cheque.

No but he is heavily involved in the running of Salford. Any competent chairman will have regular meetings/contact with his CEO and other members of the board and be up to speed on how things are being run in an organisation that Koukash has made a point of being at the tip of.

If Koukash were a chairman that stayed out of the limelight and let his CEO and board members run the show then maybe, maybe he might not be quite up to speed. Someone like Caddick at Leeds for instance.

But when Koukash has been so intimately involved in the club id find it incredibly hard to believe he doesn't know what's going on.

I don't disagree that he has a very public/vocal opinion on the team, however I am not sure that means hands on day to day financial matters. Vickers left Salford council on a salary of about £130k a year so we can only guess he isn't now on anything less.

If I funded a sports team to the tune of millions a year, I would expect to be able to act like an over excited fan and assume the person I was paying a lot of money to pay the bills did so! I would also assume if he couldn't pay them he would tell me. It appears Vickers has done neither.

I would not assume that I had to daily look at the bank account or check all bills were paid. Marwan has now said he has moved the fiancial side away from Vickers, so what as a Highly paid CEO does he now do?

Maybe, a lot of years working in a multinational blue chip company,has clouded my opinion on what a highly paid CEO is responsible for.

The fact remains that if the issues being revealed at Salford had been in anything but a public service the CEO would have been sacked/resigned. It is only senior figures in public bodies (which vickers is used to) expect otherwise.

Yes,it probably has.
Working for a red chip rather than blue chip company is a tad different.
MK is known to be very hands on ,in all aspects,as I would be if some of the money being spent was mine.
I've no idea whether Vickers is doing a good job but he'll certainly have been liaising with his boss regarding cash flow.
Give him a break. The last thing we need on here is a witch hunt.
