| I'd be very happy with Brian Smith. With a fit squad he went to the NRL GF just a couple of years ago. Partly due to the highly competitive nature of the NRL, a lack of young players coming through at the Roosters and key players such as Braith Anasta losing form, the Roosters struggled the following year. That said, 6 NRL GF's and one very recently puts Brian Smith in the elite club of coaches.
Oh, Noble's barely fit to polish Smith's boots let alone his own CV. (A tad harsh)

Well Noble is a protege of Smith's coaching at Bradford. The difference is how coaches adapt to new patterns and tactics. And I imagine with Smith being in Australia for a while, where you'd argue most of the game's innovation takes place, their styles of play could be significantly different now.

| With Brian Smith being the elder brother of Tony I’d imagine they are in regular contact and share similar tactical knowledge, structures and systems. For this reason is Brian Smith going to bring anything unique and give Salford a competitive edge in the future over our neighbours down the A57? Who knows they could be complete opposites and have totally contrasting coaching methods for all I know.

| I wouldn't mind Brian Smith. Knows the game on both hemispheres and has a good track record. Well known in Oz and here, and could tempt over a few big guns.

He has to be up there as one of the best 5 coaches of the previous two decades.

| Brian Smith would be a cracking appointment. Would like to see something more concrete about him actually being interested in the job mind.

I don't think you can make such sweeping statements because they are brothers, sport doesn't work like that. I'll start worrying about our lack of competitive edge when it becomes an issue.

| Exactly.
We are currently second bottom.
We must put in place the structure, coach and players to become a force but let's wait until we are a force to genuinely compete with Warrington and then rejoice at the problems that it gives us !

I've been worrying about it since 1975 Mr Tyler.

| I think he'd be very good. And Tony Smith might have to think twice about poaching talented palyers from his own flesh and blood................maybe not thinking about it.

I agree, and regarding poaching I suspect that once Dr K has the organisation sorted out, securely financed and properly managed we won't be in such fear of losing that talent which we want to keep - perhaps we'll be the ones wearing the poachers jacket for a change!

| Last time we went out to Aus to find a coach ( the next Madge Maguire ) we were being aspirational being linked with assistant coaches - David Penna , Kurt Wrigley , Peter Gentle etc , they all laughed, snubbed us and we ended up with Ricky Stuart's Drinking buddy.
Now we are linked with genuine GF winners with years of head coaching experience in both hemispheres .
I think that's a testament to the distance we have travelling in such a short space of time .
I'd be happy with any of the names being currently circulated because this sets our stall out for the status of the club & the type of players that sort of appointment would expect to attract.
they will listen because of the owner is aiming high & because they'll know he's not afraid to back up these targets with hard cash. and because the Director of Rugby , Co Owner & CEO are well known .
So Brian Smith Yes , or ' a Brian Smith' . If we end up with Wayne Bennetts drinking buddy , then it's back to square one.

| Does anyone know or has bothered to ask what Koukash is a Doctor in? When did he get it? What for? Where from?
And how much money has he actually put into Salford? Has anyone asked or seen the cheque?
10 years ago when I knew him he was hiring out an American Police car and a Ferrari for kids birthday parties and was just plain Marwan.....
