| Just listened to RL extra on the BBC and Mal Alker is on saying firstly that he's going to be coming to the game next Friday against Warrington to meet & greet fans and then to repair the bridges he burned when he was on the coaching staff.
It sounds to me from what is being said that he'd like to try and get back into coaching over here and especially with the Reds, sure we need help on the defensive side of things just not sure if Alker coming back would be the best idea.
Personally think him just turning up at the game next week could backfire on him, I'm sure him contacting the club and seeing if they mind him doing so would be a much better option for him.

| I wouldnt have alker back on the coaching staff at all and wouldn't give him any role within the club! Have well too much influence over players IMO when converting from playing to coaching! We need to start a fresh and not take a backward step. New start for the club so no need for him!

| It was amazing listening to him slagging off the poor culture within the club. When he was part off that culture and some would say the orchestrator of it all.
He sounds to me like someone desperately trying to find some work. Personally I wouldnt want him anywhere near the coaching side of things.

| Nor me but a vote amongst fans on here would be very interesting if it could be set up.

| Keep him well away.
Slagged the club off, threatened to take them to court and now wants to say sorry
Almost all the dead wood has gone, dont want one returning thank you very much.

I know where you're coming from Fungus: but a lot of it turns out to be accurate (poor culture), as recent events have shown. I personally have not read his book, so just how much he was responsible for stuff is unknown to me.
Personally, I think there is a bit of "push and shove" after the fact, and that the truth is generally somewhere in between. I'm trying to be even handed here, because I live so far out of the geographical zone that the ONLY stuff that I rely on usually comes from the forums, newspapers, friends still within the game and the internet.
I think that if I had given as much as Malc did for our club, then perhaps I would want my voice to be heard too.
Salford fans have always been a loyal bunch, so it's always difficult when someone like Malc who was such an icon to our club is now sometimes at odds with the new culture (thank goodness) that our club now has under different circumstances.
All the best mate: it's been my first real post for a while. BD.

| did he actually say he wants to come back to the reds in a coaching role or is it what it "sounds like" to you?? of course malc should be welcomed back to the ground he is red through and through. im not saying he should or shouldnt be involved in the coaching set up but he does deserve recognition from the club and the fans for all his years service.

| Not sure wear I stand on the alker situation on the field a leader gave 100% and not 1% less fearless always committed to the cause respect of his fellow professionals loves the club
Off the field wild child, rule bender and basically played situations to suit himself
Being the guvnor at salford for so long would his reappearence stifle growth or create it in the playing staffs development as they lack a leader its clear to see
Dunno clean slate sure the new regime would not stand for anything less than proffessionalsm 100% of the time

He is that desperate to coach at Salford he has applied for the Swinton post. As someone else has said he seems to be exploring any route.

| We're moving forward, not backwards, as so many people seem keen to point out. I'm sure if he came back to watch he'd be welcome to, but in any official capacity? No, ta.
