I think it's a great appointment. Denis has totally injected Widnes into a Top Eight Club from very limited resources. Thoroughly deserved IMO

Betts will be on board to offer advice on British based players, and do as he's told by WB. Probably good news for Brown, which means England will finally have the premier quarterback in SL playing National RL.

Agreed re brown but I don't think WB will be telling Betts what to do as he's a cooperative style coach and as you say he will be tapping into betts' knowledge of the British game and his players

You're quite right with regards to Bennet. He's very much the contemplative type of coach. I'm undecided about Betts actual ability in the long term but he'll be learning from the best no doubt.

I was very dubious about Betts but he's proved me wrong, turned widnes in to a good attacking team without any real stars. Good appointment in my opinion
