The club has previously made blunder after blunder from a commercial point of view, and just when it seemed they were doing a great job (last few months) of putting that right, I was flabbergasted to see one of our own cheekily mocking the fact that Raging Bull had stolen the clubs thunder with his post. He then alerted the club to the fact (which I applaud him) and removed his post.

I'm not saying we shouldn't post things in advance, but where we do find that someone else has mucked up, would be nice if we protected our club from unnecessary slagging off.

Obviously, it's very easy for anyone to read a one sentence post and put 2 & 2 together and think killjoy, but anyone who knows me, knows I'm a practical joker, and my post was all about trying to prevent rival fans taking even more of the urine

You still going on about that Paul, for god sake. The post from Iain said it all on Friday (over on Twitter)it was in the public domain, fans from other clubs weren't even bothered about it.

Ironically you post on this forum, a fanzine that used to mock the club albeit tongue in cheek, grow a pair.

This is Salford we're on about if you don't laugh you'd cry.

I can't in the grand scheme of things see the club really being bothered by all this, a bit of advanced publicity and for the alleged new main sponsor a bit of free exposure.

It has occurred to me that the new sponsor actually owns a rugby team in Japan, I would hope that when Ikea is built at Barton they are persuaded too become involved in some capacity.

Wasn't there talk of a car dealership being built at the stadium, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I played golf recently with one of the owners of the Skoda dealership down the road, the price he told me that was being asked to open a dealership was astronomical, I can't see anything other than a big site from a prestigious marque when you're talking 6 figures for the privilege.

I thought it would be them hands down before the new sponsorship, the site doesn't do itself any favours they surely should be looking at cutting prices for plots.

When I first went to the LSV it was like our plot, felt strange with nothing on there but the last time I went it looked much better with the supermarket, hotel and other businesses.

Hopefully in time ours will end up that way.

What I think we'll find is that the moment the link road is completed the retails units will shoot up, the new pub went up incredibly quickly. I'd say this time next year the entire place will look totally different, my hope is that the transport to the ground is taken into account when the rest of the area is developed.

You're right, perhaps I should only post when not at work so that I don't have my "management" hat on... afterall, it was my sense of humour and funtime attitude that got me supporting Salford in the 1st place.

Re: sponsor. I think it's more likely to be one of the local dealerships rather than the main entity. The company in question is absolutely massive - if it was the main HQ sponsoring us it would be the most high profile main shirt sponsor Super League has ever seen.
