Don't shoot me here but I'm hearing several little things over the grape vine, nothing concrete but according to a few people marwan has got the stadium on the cheap or is in the process of getting it cheap ........ "Andy - he's not the new Messiah - just a very shrewd businessman who may (or may not) have got the reds (and if the news is true, stadium) on the cheap."

If this is true and not just pie in the sky, then this is even better news than Sheens staying.
I know the location isn't great, but the facilities are and for the club to finally again be in posession of something they can call their own would be a massive step forward.

BUT although I would like nothing more than to see us owning part of stadium I just can't see it happening as I've said before it ties Koukash down and also restricts him to our fan base as he wouldn't be able to try the dreaded move to Manchester trial if things didn't drastically improve.

Is it the ownership of the stadium ? or getting the rental cheap ?

Pretty sure it will be the latter.

I thought it was just the rental on the stadium for this season, that is why one stand will be closed for each match till the crowds increase.

To be honest i can not see peel holdings selling there stake in the stadium, due to all the other firms ????? moving into barton which will increase the value of the land etc.

And Salford council would like all the money they put in back i have no doubt, i think the people of Salford will have something to say, if the council did not get all there money back.

I hope he has bought the stadium on the cheap, but i think it is just a cheap deal for the season.

Sale Sharks are owned by an equally wealthy person, who has more history of property development (owns Edgely Park where Sale moved from)in the NW than Marwan. He secured naming rights, shop etc so you would assume if there was a cheap deal to be had he would also be in the running.

Personally I think Peel take a long term investment option on everything so there is no chance they will sell the stadium at a loss knowing that the area is only going to increase in value. Salford Council may sell if they got their money back, but I guess they will take advice from Peel and hold on. Either way, neither of them are going to sell it "on the cheap"

•Recent SMC accounts show they have bought the Wights waste disposal site from the administrators. They are buying land, not selling off on the cheap. Just my opinion though
