Quote: Angelic Cynic "I found this rlOne Of The Betterrl articles on the topic.'"
AC, you may like the content but it has been published on an RU site, and a site that is know for its attempts to be controversial.
I can tell you wholeheartedly that Dave Southern has no connection with Rugby League Ireland and ceased to be involved several months ago. Even in the year or two prior to that his involvement was very, very little.
The problem with the article is that it reinforces the stereotypes that the most vehement would try to impose. If we get rid of this, "it's all because RL's fault" siege mentality that we imply by jumping to the defensive position many have then this would have been a huge embarrassment for RU as it would have shown them to be pinning the blame on another sport for their own failures but they knew many would bite and thus now the topic of conversation is why so many league fans have such a huge inferiority complex.
They, the RU Ivory tower kingmakers and RU friendly journos, knew this would be the end output and they have been proven right and deflected from their own shortcomings. How can a country so huge in terms of active players produce such a p!$$poor national side, which is severely limited in its playing approach and core skills? Who cares when you can get the league fans to start bleating eh?
