Quote: John Gilbert Reds "It makes you wonder what Wigan do to these prop forwards. Scott Taylor went there and was slated, comes to Salford and has a fantastic season. Sam Hopkins is another who went to Wigan and failed to make an impact, yet has had an impressive season this time around at Leigh.
Jack Hughes looks another who is excelling away from the DW at the moment too and if he was to become available I would be more than happy for us to sign him up after what I have seen from him at Huddersfield.'"
Never let the facts get in the way of a good rant eh?
Taylor decided that Hull is his preferred destination to play rugby. He is from Hull so fair enough. Wigan were pretty desperate to keep him. He was an integral part of the double winning pack. Compared to his time at Wigan, he is now slow and overweight, though still a good prop. He has ruined his own career, because by now, he should be in the England squad.
Hopkins attitude wasn't good enough for Wane. He hasn't even been picked for the first 17 yet. Maybe the pressure of competing with the current first team props was too much for him. Having an impressive season against Championship (mostly) part-timers is hardly that big a deal. Maybe that's his level.
Jack Hughes isn't now, never has been, and never will be, a prop. Rather than 'excelling' as you say, take a quick glance at the Giants boards. He seems to be consistently average. However he is still young, and I'm pretty sure he will be back at Wigan next season, with a decent run of games (at a good club) in Super League under his belt.
By the way - FWIW IMO your current catastrophic loss of form is solely down to missing Dobson and Chase. On Easter Monday Salford looked top 4 quality. Get them back in the team and the wins will follow. No need for knee jerking over Harris. I'm a big fan of the Doc. I hope that Salford can prosper, because the game needs him.
