As long as it's not Goulding as the numpties on twitter are callings for. I'm all for having ex Salford players, as long as they not on big bucks and their work commitments would allow. Mark Lee, Steve Blackley, Gary Broadbent, players that are professional so for that reason I'd discount Alker. Be nice if we could install some tradition and implement that into the youngsters and be proud to play for Salford.

Edit: been thinking of players who young kids would reconsise, Littler is retiring soon, now at Swinton I beleive so some may say he's already retired. Highton? Why did he leave? Wasn't be player manager? Presume he left to make way for Morley?

I don't see why Goulding would be such a bad choice. He's hit both the highs and lows in the game and has got bags of passion and understanding for the sport. he's been around the amateur game for some time and has good links and connections all over the place. There are plenty of good reasons why Goulding would be a good choice. I do see why some would have reservations... but I can bet he'd put everything into it and have plenty of good ideas on how to do it.

We appreciated Sean Long and the current U19's coach has a checked past.
Yet we are sniffy about Goulding, nominated twice for coach of the year at Rochdale and has done a stint as National coach.

I don't think he is right for the job , as I think we need someone with a track record of building a successful Academy structure. but you think there would a role for someone with Gouldjngs enthusiasm..

I agree Goulding wouldn't be my first choice, I know he does have a checkered past but he seems to have settled down a bit with age.
I would've thought with receiving such a poor assessment and getting rid of Hunt we would've been going so for some with proven experience in this area as were basically starting from scratch.
