| Personally and I know this won't be popular. I don't think we will be successful with chase in the team. I know he can be brilliant, but there'll be too many performances like saints. Little room to play and he holds on to the ball for a second too long. Simple fact if he can't play in the system, you don't change the system you change the player !!

| Quote: TheButcher "I agree.
Chase has probably been MK's best signing. He's done little wrong since he arrived. All this nonsense about structured play is just that. Nonsense. Just look at his stats since he joined us, they're certainly not the stats of someone who stands there as a pivot not knowing what moves have been called. RL is a team game where individuals contribute to the whole. If the rest of the team had been as consistent as Chase has (And I realise he has off days) we'd have had higher finishing places, and won considerably more than we have done.
Leave the 'Can't play in a structured team' to the knobbers who see him twice a year and the former player pundits with weight gain problems and evaporating jawlines.'"
These comments really surprise me Butcher. Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember you suggesting you wouldn't be opposed to letting Chase go so long back suggesting that he was too unpredictable? I think you mentioned or were leaning towards the thought that for the salary he was on it would be better spent elsewhere if memory serves me correct? I totally agree with your comments above however because having that unpredictability surely is a good thing?

I think you're mistaken, mate.
I don't think I've ever said anything like that. If you could find it I'll hold my hand up, but I can't think in what context I'd say that.

| not having a dig or anything, I just remember thinking it odd at the time as I actually think you are one of the more sensible posters on here. I'm sure it was when we were going through a sticky patch last year, either way I think its a fantastic weapon to have when your opponents cant guess what is going to happen next..

| I watched the NRL game this morning and the way Parramatta were described as playing Chris Sandow struck me as being how we should handle Chase.
The commentators were saying that Brad Arthur keeps Sandow away from the more structured play and gave him a free license to roam on both sides and work his magic as he did countless times today. Very similar player to chase, both small in stature and incredibly gifted off the cuff players.
